NTH@C Poetry Slam for a Cause

Thank you to everyone who supported our rookies in this week's Slamming for a Cause event. This year's donations went to support Aid for Africa. Thanks to your support, our learners were able to make a different through raising awareness about global issues and raise over $2,100 for Aid for Africa. Thank you!

Rookies Present at the United Nations Association Dallas Chapter

On Saturday, December 12, at Dallas' Fretz library, fourteen NTH@C rookies from the NTH@C Global Issues course and Mrs. Boyd presented at the 2015 meeting for the United Nations Association Dallas Chapter. Mrs. Boyd and learners spoke to the Dallas UN Chapter's board of directors and guests. Rookies shared their reflections on their learning, activities, and insight from their November Global Issues Summit project. Learners informed the board of directors how project based learning and the model UN program came together with the UN Global Goals for 2030 and the Texas TEKS. The presentation included several media pieces created by rookies as well as a video by Kendall Dunn from the PBS Student Reporting Labs. Presenters accompanying Mrs. Boyd were Katelin Rezincek, Hope Gullatt, Ramisha Hossain, Elizabeth Fullwood, Jensen Thomas, Andre Agius D¹Arrigo, Nihant Tallapaka, Earl Cotton, Maguire Mathis, Anika Biju, Kristen Killgo, Jill Rosenblum, Zohra Ahmed, and Anika Lee. The board extended an invitation to learners to speak on air for FunAsia 104.9 and to participate in a youth to youth program sponsored by the United Nations Foundation Dallas Chapter.

Super Bowl of Caring Kick-Off

It's once again time for the Super Bowl of Caring. This year NTH@C has been selected as one of three kick-off locations in Texas for the Super Bowl of Caring campaign. The kick-off event will occur at 9:00 am on January 19, in the NTH@C gym.

The annual food drive will be starting as soon as we come back from Christmas break. The food drive will take place from Monday, January 4, through Friday, January 15, 2016. All food will be donated to the North Texas Food Bank. Learners can bring their donated food to their science facilitators.

Parking Reminders

Just a reminder for learners, designated parking for NTH@C is only at St. Ann's. Parking at other local businesses could result in towing from the business. If a learner has lost or needs a parking sticker, just have them stop by the office and we'll certainly help.

NTH@C Welcoming Back Mr. Vanicek

We'd like to welcome back a familiar face to NTH@C. Mr. Vanicek will be helping in the role of assistant director starting January 4, 2016. He is joining NTH@C this spring while Dr. Shivers is out on family leave. Mrs. Spannagel will be covering the regular campus principal roles.

NTH@C Recruitment Dates and Legacy Learners

It's once again time for NTH@C learner recruitment! Take a look at the campus site for information regarding the parent information sessions in January and February. The legacy learner link has also been posted on the campus site.
