Reflection Corner: Gratitude for the Little Moments

"Gratitude, yes, for all the big things that stand tall, thick with abundance, joy and fruitfulness, but deep thankfulness for the bite –sized pieces of life." – Joyce Rupp

How generous are we in thanking God for the moments of grace that bring peace and unity into our lives and family? Children and loved ones?

One with the World in Remembrance and Prayer

Last Friday, our world was in shock. Terrorism struck again. Innocent people fell victims to what has been determined as a terrorist act in Paris, France. We join people from all nations in remembering and praying for victims of terrorism. Last Monday, our students paused for a moment of silence for our brothers and sisters affected by the recent tragedy in France . Join us as we pray:

"Loving God,

Welcome into your arms the victims of violence and terrorism.

Comfort their families and all who grieve for them.

Help us in our fear and uncertainty,

And bless us with the knowledge that we are secure in your love.

Strengthen all those who work for peace,

And may the peace the world cannot give reign in our hearts."

OLM Students at the National History Day (NHD) Workshop in Sacramento

Twenty-five (25) of our sixth graders attended a non-mandatory National History Day Workshop in Sacramento last Saturday, November 14th. Mr. Sato, our sixth grade Social Studies teacher, and many parents likewise participated in what was a truly fun and learning-filled experience. Kudos to Mr. Sato, sixth grade parents, and our sixth graders for going that extra mile (literally miles, in this case :-) to make learning more real and enriching for our students.
