ALTA VISTA NEWS
2023 DISTINGUISHED SCHOOL AWARD
Alta Vista is being recognized as a 2023 California Distinguished School. The California Distinguished Schools program recognizes schools for their excellent work in one of two categories: closing the achievement gap and achieving exceptional student performance. Alta Vista is one of five elementary schools in Union School District being recognized this year. This is an exceptional achievement and all of Team Alta Vista - staff, students and the community should be proud.
A small group of staff members will be attending the California School Recognition Program Awards Ceremony on Thursday, February 16, 2023, in Anaheim, California. Presented by the California Department of Education, the ceremony is a celebratory day to recognize each school's outstanding achievements. We will have our own celebration at Alta Vista later in the Spring.
Congratulations to everyone and thank you for always being our partners in education and inspiration.

What is your favorite thing about Alta Vista?
My favorite thing about Alta Vista is whether I walk through the campus wings or at Yard Duty at the front of school, I receive the WARMEST greetings from current, former, or all students and families in the AV community. It brightens my day and is a daily reminder that we are a united community.
Tell us about your family.
My parents reside in Portland, Oregon, however, I am lucky to have my brother here in the Bay Area. We are very close and enjoy spending time together when we have down time.
What do you like to do when you are not at school?
I love to exercise and being active! It's the first thing I do when I get home from school. On the weekends, my boyfriend and I love to go explore different cities or attend sporting events!
