West Newbury Young Inventors Win Big at the Northern New England
Regional Young Inventors’ Competition!
The Page School is proud to share the results of the Northern New England Regional Young Inventors’ Competition at UNH on March 19th. Third grader Sam Corning and fifth graders Evelyn Spaulding, Liam Goodwin, and Lucy Tanner represented West Newbury’s Young Inventors at the NNE Competition after receiving high scores at the Page School Invention Showcase in February.
At the NNE Regional Competition, Evie won Best in Grade, 1st Place in the Challenge Category Boring Choring for grades 4-6, Liam won Best in Grade, 2nd Place and the Adaptive/Assistive Technology Award for grade 5, Lucy won the Animal Welfare Award for grade 5, and Sam won Best in Grade, 3rd Place for grade 3. Evie, Liam, and Sam have been invited to represent the NNE Region at the Young Inventors’ Worldwide National Competition in Dearborn, Michigan at the end of May. We wish them the best of luck!
In addition to Evie, Lucy, Liam, and Sam, the other Page students who participated in this year’s Young Inventors’ Program include 6th grader Spiros Sakkas, 5th grader Leo Corning, 4th graders Jackson Jones and Ronan Williamson, and 3rd graders Lilly Cantone and Charlie Doyle.
On February 16, these ten inventors presented their projects to judges at the Page Invention Showcase. The 3rd and 4th grade results were Charlie Doyle with Tangle Teezer 2000 in third place, Lilly Cantone with The Runaway Retriever in second place, and Sam Corning with The Tissue Tote in first place. The 5th and 6th grade results were Spiros Sakkas with the Perfect Personalized Pack in third place, Lucy Tanner with The Purrfect Plant Protector in second place, and Liam Goodwin with The Handy Hair Helper in first place.
