Katie Schmidt Reading Journal
Books I have read in 2016
The FoxGlove Killings by Tara Kelly
I connected with the main character of this book in many ways. Nova, the main character is very curious in the book. I am also very curious just like Nova. Also, Nova likes to run to relieve stress. I also like to jog and run to relieve stress. I would recommend this book to older readers. I think that people who like scary murder mysteries would enjoy this book.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone by J.K. Rowling
In this book I connected to one of the main characters; Hermione Granger. I connected to her because she loves reading and school. I too, love reading and school. Also Hermione also is a perfectionist and often puts a lot of pressure on her self to be the best she can be. I often am a perfectionist and put a lot of pressure on myself. I would recommend this book to people who like fantasy stories.
My Brother's Shadow by Tom Avery.
I connected to the story because the main character Kaia has gone through a lot of trauma in her life. Someone I know has gone through a lot of the things she had gone through in the story. After reading the story I feel like I understand what happened to her more now. I would recommend this book to people who like book that are a little bit sad. Also I would recommend this to people who like books in the form like journal entries.
Bones To Ashes by Kathy Reichs
I connected to this book because it is about Forensic Anthropology, and when I graduate I want to go to school and study Forensic Anthropology. I would recommend this book to older readers who like murder mysteries. I would recommend this book to older readers because it is a harder read with parts that are a little creepy in the book.
A Long Walk to Water, By Linda Sue Park
I connected to this story in the story Salva had to overcome many challenges. In my life my parents and I had to overcome many challenges as well. I think that readers who enjoy realistic fiction and biographies would enjoy this book. In the book parts of it are about a real person and some of it is about a made up character. I think that people that enjoy both genres would enjoy this book.
Leap of Faith by James Blair
I connected to this story by the theme, "sometimes you just need to take a leap of faith.". From this book I learned that sometimes you just need to put yourself out their and take that leap. I would recommend this book to people who like books that keep you on the edge of your seat, because I could not put this book down!
