Report Cards Go Home on Monday
Please check your child's backpack for the 1st Marking Period Report Card on Monday. We ask that you signed and return the Report Card envelope to school no later than Friday, November 20.
On Tuesday, HAVEN presenters will be here teaching lessons on personal safety and body ownership for grades K-2 and Gender Respect and personal safety and body ownership for grades 3-5. Opt-Out Forms have been sent home. If you do not want your child to participate and you have not sent in an Opt-Out Form, you need to email me and let me know.
Late Start on Wednesday
This Wednesday, November 18, will be a late start for students. The first bell will ring at 9:20 a.m. with school starting at 9:25 a.m. Staff will be receiving Professional Development on Writing Pathways Pre On-Demand Scoring.
4th Grade Field Trip on Thursday
This Thursday, our 4th Graders will be taking a Field Trip. Please contact the teacher for more information if needed.
PTA Restaurant Night to Blaze Pizza on Tuesday
Please stop by Blaze Pizza this Tuesday Night from 4:00-8:30 p.m. to help support Upton Elementary. Please see the flyer below for more details.
Upton will be hosting a Family Science Night on December 9! Your child should have brought home the flyer below. If you are interested in attending, please complete the form, and turn it in to your child's teacher by this Monday, November 16.
Student Information Updates
Parents can and should update contact information, emergency contacts, and student health information through the MI-STAR parent portal. Keeping such information up to date supports the school and home partnership that benefits students and their learning. Assistance on how to use Parent Portal may be obtained from the office of your child’s school or by contacting Ms. Angie Smith (phone: 248-435-8400, ext, 1216; firstname.lastname@example.org). If you need to change your address, you must do this in person by visiting the District Central Enrollment Office, located at 800 DeVillen. The office is open Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
The Royal Oak PTA Council and Royal Oak Middle School are sponsoring a five part Parent Workshop Series. You are welcome to attend the entire series or simply the sessions that are of interest to you. The workshops are free. Families with students in grades K-12 are encouraged to participate. The next workshop in the series will be held on November 19, 2015, on the topic “Avoiding Helicopter Parenting (but still be in the airport).” All workshops are at Royal Oak Middle School and begin at 6:00 p.m. For more information, including how to register for the workshops, please click here.
