Classroom Newsletters
Our Valentines party will be Thursday, February 13th from 12:45-1:40. We will decorate bags for our Valentine cards and treats here at school so it is not necessary to send in boxes for them.
If you would like to send in Valentine cards or treats we currently have 24 students in our classroom. Please make sure to send these in with your child in the morning so we can have them sorted/handed out before the party begins. Also, please only fill out who they are from as this will make the handout process much easier.
There is a sign up genius above if you are able to donate items or volunteer to help. Please feel free to email or call if you have any questions or concerns.

Math Racers- Practice Makes Perfect!
An important skill for your child to master in first grade is to know their addition math facts 0-10 fluently. This week we started a fun way to practice this skill. When time permits, we will be taking a math racer one minute and thirty second timed test. We started with numbers +1. If your child gets them all correct in one minute and thirty seconds, they will move on to +2 and then + 3 etc. If they did not finish they will retake it until they do. At the end, when they finish all races they will earn a prize from our reward bucket. Tests will be sent home so you can track their progress. Unfinished facts will be circled. Please have your child finish the race at home and practice.
Happy Racing!
RED Homework Folders
Reading Logs
Reading logs are due every Monday. Your child will bring their checked reading log home on Monday and they will have until the following Monday to read with someone. Please make sure the reading log is filled out and initialed by an adult.
Your child can earn tickets by reading at home and having the log correctly filled out. At the end of each month, we will do a drawing for three new books. The more your child reads the more tickets they will earn.
There is a direct correlation between your child becoming a successful reader and reading at home. We understand that evenings can be a busy time. Fifteen or more minutes of reading a night can make a substantial impact on your child’s growth as a reader. Reading logs also count towards your child’s report card for completing homework on time.
