This newsletter will update you on all the important happenings at JCMS from December into January. On behalf of the staff at JCMS, we hope everyone has a Happy Holiday season!

So Proud Of Our JCMS Cheerleaders!!!

On November 18, the Jacksonville Commons Middle School cheerleaders showed up at Swansboro High School for the County Conference Competition packed with energy, positivity and spirit. With a lot of faith, efficacy and grit the girls were able to take 3rd place out of 8 middle schools in the county! The coaches could not be more proud of the hard work shown by all 29 cheerleaders on the team. A huge congratulations to the JCMS Lady Knights for their fierce performance and dedication!

Parents and friends are more than welcome to come cheer on their favorite basketball players. Please see Coach Johnson or Coach Staup to sign up.

JCMS Basketball Tryout Information:

Students that want to try out for basketball must have a current physical and have their parents attend the concussion awareness meeting before they can tryout. Scheduled meetings will take place Monday, 12/4 or Wednesday, 12/6 at 5:15 in the health room.

Basketball season is right around the corner, basketball tryouts will begin on Monday December 11th. Due to the very large amount of students expected to tryout (over 100 boys have signed up on our interest sheet) we are going to break up boys tryouts so everyone gets a fair chance to tryout in front of the coaches. All 7th grade boys will tryout Monday December 11th and Tuesday December 12th from 3:15-5:00pm. All 8th grade boys will tryout Wednesday December 13th and Thursday December 14th from 3:15-5:00pm. The top performing 7th and 8th graders will then be asked to come back for a last day of tryouts on Friday December 15th. Please understand that there a lot of boys trying out and only a select amount of our best student-athletes are going to make the team.

All 7th and 8th grade girls will have their tryouts from 5-6:30 on Monday, 12/11 through Wednesday, 12/13. Girls interested in trying out have the option of going to study hall in Coach Meltz room after school while they wait for tryouts to begin. Thanks and good luck to all who are trying out. Go Knights!
