January 7, 2022
Dear Sydenham Families,
A huge shout out to families and educators for navigating us through week one of remote learning in 2022! Way to go everyone! We know this isn't always easy and we are so grateful for our whole school community for helping students get plugged in to their on-line learning, once again.
The school is staffed daily, during regular school day hours, so please reach out and give us a call if you need to - we are happy to support you in any way we can.
One bonus of learning from home is that we get to see full faces again! It amazing how student's smiles change - all those baby teeth going out and new ones coming in. Keep smiling, Sydenham Storm and we will see you on-line!
Mrs. Marshall and Ms. Diamond

Attendance
Attendance will be taken each day at 2:30. To be marked present, students need to connect with their teachers before that time (e.g. handing in work, participating in virtual classes/meetings, messaging/phone call/e-mailing teachers). The school will be calling out between 2:45 - 3:45 each day for students marked absent. If you know that your child(ren) are not going to be "at school", please use the messenger app to call in the absence.
Students/families need to touch base with their classroom teacher (on-line/phone call/email) each day in order to be marked present. If they have an arrangement with the teacher to do just asynchronous learning (just work packages) arrangements need to be made with the teacher for consistent pick up and drop off of completed package and check-ins (phone/email) are set up with the teacher. For example, a family doesn't want any on-line learning, so the teacher is providing a package on Monday with a phone/email check in with the teacher scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday to check on how things are going, then drop off the package for the teacher to check work on Fridays. The teacher will mark "present" if this is happening. This can happen during "office hours" if your class has that scheduled.
If families are opting to not check-in regardless of getting a package, they will be marked absent.
