Vocabulary and Writing!
Ms. Clarke Working the Writing!
What you see in the photos above are some of Ms. Clarke's students sharing their "quick writes" after reading the anchor text, "The Athabascans: Old Ways and New Ways." This is a difficult non-fiction anchor text for whole group read, however, Ms. Clarke did not shy away from this challenge! She used an anchor chart in order to front-load difficult vocabulary and she also offered her students a "quick write" activity so that she could glean what information they pulled away from the text. Teaching writing is never easy, but children will reap the benefits when given an opportunity to write. Congratulations, Ms. Clarke! Your third graders met and exceeded the expectations that you had for this lesson!
High School & 8th Grade News: PSAT Scores are Available
The level of reporting for the PSAT will provide you with an excellent road map to inform your instruction from now until the Spring testing date. In the Reports tab, the two reports that you will find most valuable are the Question Analysis Report and the Instructional Planning Report. For an overall view of your student data, you will want to access the Scores and Benchmarks report.
To access your College Board account, please go to www.collegeboard.org. If you are missing access to your reporting, please reach out to your building principal. They will be able to grant your access on their side of the platform. Let the PSAT Data Dive begin!
Data Dive: The Learning Objectives Mastery Report in Mastery Manager
The video for how to pull this report is below, and I have also included written directions for how to access standards-based reports in Mastery Manager.
A very special thank you to Ms. Sam Loveland for creating these videos for our district!
Single Assessment Reports
Written Directions: Learning Objectives Mastery
2. Click on the Assessments tab in the upper left-hand part of your screen.
3. Click where it says "Show Assessment Finder" next to the magnifying glass on the right side of your screen.
4. Select the drop down for your grade level. Then click "Save"--this will look for the assessments specific to your grade level. Note that you may have to scroll to page 2 if there are many assessments. This is located at the bottom of the screen.
5. Search for the assessment you want to see a report for, and then click on the blue button to the right of your desired assessment that says "Reports"
6. Select all of the criteria that you would like for this report. For the section that says "Standards Levels," select all of the boxes. Then click "Generate reports"
7. Under the title of "Learning Objectives Reports," click "Learning Objectives Mastery"
Your reports will appear sorted by standard, and it will show you the percentage of students who achieved mastery for each standard.
Please remember! If your children are not taking the assessments using Mastery Manager, you still need to be able to show your building principal the percent mastery for each standard on the required assessments for the school year. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your building principal. Thank you!
