Bee Cave Scholastic Book Fair
Did you know? Reading just 20 minutes a day exposes your child to about 1.8 million words per year. Reading helps students develop a stronger vocabulary, and in addition, students who read for pleasure average higher grades in English, mathematics, science, and history!
Encourage your child to read books for fun by attending our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair. Allow your child to choose the books they want to read! It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level.
Mark your calendar!
Book Fair dates: Tuesday, March 5 – Friday, March 8
Shopping hours: Tues., Wed., Fri., 7:20 – 4:00 pm, Thursday, 7:20 – 6:00 pm
NEW digital payment option: eWallet! Now your student can shop the Fair cash-free! Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and to create an account:
http://www.scholastic.com/bf/beecaveelementaryschool
If you are unable to attend the Fair in person, we invite you to visit our Online Fair at scholastic.com/fair. Our Online Fair is available from Feb. 24 to March 8.
We look forward to seeing you and your family at our Book Fair! Remember, all purchases benefit our school. Thank you for supporting our readers!
Legacy Teachers for 2019-2020
- It is critical we have balanced classrooms for students. Assigning students to legacy teachers sometimes makes balancing very difficult.
- With growth at BCE, the new students cannot benefit.
- The oldest student in the family is not able to benefit.
Ensuring proper placement and the best education for ALL students is a top priority. As a part of the placement process, your child may still end up with his/her legacy teacher, however, this will not be part of the consideration when placing students. We appreciate your support in this, and are thankful for our community's desire to keep kids first.
The parent input form for the upcoming school year will be sent with the April 7th Beehive, and there will be more information about the placement process in upcoming newsletters.
Thank you for your ongoing support!

2019-2020 PTO Board Recruitment
Are you interested in joining the PTO Board? There are various positions open for the 2019‐20 school year, and we are calling for parents who are interested in serving BCE students, staff, and community as part of the PTO. Being on the PTO Board is a great way to be involved with your child’s school, know what is going on at the school, and be an important part of creating a great place for all BCE children to learn and grow! Please see the attached nomination form with a description of each position and a brief summary of responsibilities. If you are interested, please fill out the form and turn it in to a member of the Nominating Committee (or at the Front Office) by April 5, 2019. The general membership will elect officers on April 24, 2019. Thank you for your interest!
2019 Nominating Committee: Emily Chaplinski (chair), Tracey Kane, Melissa Williamson.
Talent Show Thank You!

PTO Purchase Spotlight
Last Friday, February 22, Don Tate (author-illustrator) came to visit BCE 4th and 5th Grade students.
During his presentation, he discussed how he had been an artist his whole life, not always a good one, but he was always passionate about art and practiced daily. Mr. Tate also talked about his fear of being an author and how the process taught him to always try things even when you are scared, and that rejection is part of growth. At the end he had some interactive art time with some of the students!
It was great presentation enjoyed by all. Thank you to Mrs. Heckler for bringing him to BCE, and to all of you for supporting the PTO!
