SUMMER EVENTS - UPDATE FOR STUDENTS & FAMILIES
Summer Greetings from The Lake!
Hello, Springton Lake students and families! We hope that you are all doing well and that you are having a great summer. We are getting closer to the start of the new school year and can't wait to see everyone. The purpose of this communication is to provide an update about some of our upcoming events - the Schedule Release Party, Open House, & Back-to-School Night. These are important events for our school community and we know that students and families are looking forward to them. The good news is that we ARE going to be holding all of the events! However, in light of the changing COVID conditions, we need to make some slight changes in order to host these events in a safe and responsible manner. Please take a few moments to review the following information carefully so that you know what to expect.
As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions. Otherwise, we will see you all very soon!
Dr. Salladino, Mrs. Britton, & Dr. Layton
SCHEDULE RELEASE PARTY - MONDAY, AUGUST 16th
This year's Schedule Release Party will be held on Monday, August 16th. This is the opportunity for students to gain EARLY ACCESS to their class schedule and team assignment for the upcoming school year.
WHEN:
Last Names A-K: 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Last Names L-Z: 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM
WHERE:
Front of the building - driveway will be closed. Please park in the lot.
WHAT:
- Pick-up class schedule and summer mailing
- Say a quick hello to some Springton Lake staff members
- Take a photo at the selfie-station w/ your schedule
- Meet Sparty, our school's mascot
- Pick-up a cool, free treat from the Kona Ice Truck
This year's Schedule Release Party will not be the typical block party style event that we normally hold. We expect that students will visit for a much shorter period of time - 15 to 20 minutes maximum. These changes are necessary in order to limit the overall size of the crowd. Because the entirety of the event will take place outdoors, masks will be optional.
A few final notes about this event...
- Schedules will go live in HAC on Tuesday, August 17th and will also be mailed to those who are not able to attend.
- Schedules will not be available for pick-up for any reason prior to 5:00 PM on August 16th.
- We will not release the schedule to anyone other than the student or their parent. Families may not pick-up the schedule for a friend. Sorry, but there will be no exceptions.
- In keeping with the spirit of this fun event, administrators and guidance counselors will not discuss schedule concerns during the Schedule Release Party.
OPEN HOUSE - THURSDAY, AUGUST 26th
Students and parents are invited for an Open House on Thursday, August 26th, between the hours of 12:45 PM and 2:45 PM. This will be an informal opportunity for students and parents to "walk" the class schedule, preview classrooms, and say "hello" to their teachers. We hope that this will be an additional opportunity for students to explore the school and to feel comfortable for the first day.
Last Names A-K: 12:45 PM to 1:45 PM
Last Names L-Z: 1:45 PM to 2:45 PM
- Students must be accompanied by an adult. No drop-offs permitted.
- Students should bring their class schedule - additional copies will not be available.
- ONE parent may attend per child. No younger siblings, please.
- Masks are required for everyone.
- Chromebook cases, gym shirts, and other spirit-wear items will be available for purchase.
While the logistics of this events have been modified slightly from what we originally planned, we are still excited to provide this opportunity for everyone. Though our teachers are excited to meet everyone, please keep in mind that this is not the appropriate venue for parents to have in-depth, specific conversations with them. This is a meet and greet only.
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
The first day of school for the 2021-2022 school year is Monday, August 30th. For the first time this year, the first day of school at Springton Lake will be for 6th grade students ONLY. This will allow us to devote our complete attention to our newest Spartans and provide them with a day of transition where they have the building to themselves. ALL STUDENTS - grades 6, 7, and 8 - will attend for the first time together on Tuesday, August 31st.
6th GRADE TRANSITION CAMP
The second of our two Transition Camps for incoming 6th grade students is set for Wednesday, August 18th from 9 AM to 12 PM. This is a voluntary, half-day program where students can meet members of the Springton Lake Staff, interact with classmates, and engage in a number of activities designed to help orient them to the school and to make them feel even more comfortable and ready for the first day of school. The sessions are FREE and attendance is VOLUNTARY. Students may attend ONE SESSION. Parents of 6th grade students should refer to the email that Dr. Salladino sent to all families on Monday, August 9th. Masks are required.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL NIGHT FOR PARENTS - THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 2nd
Back-to-School Night will be held for ALL grade levels on Thursday, September 2, 2021, beginning at 6:00 PM. This will be an opportunity for you to meet your child’s teachers and to learn more about what they have planned for the year. In light of recent developments related to COVID, we have decided that this year’s Back-to-School Night will be virtual. Specific information about the logistics for Back-to-School Night and links to attend will be shared in the coming weeks.
