Emma Fernandez| Acting Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians
Welcome Back to Term Three! We are thrilled to welcome our students and staff back to school. We hope that you were able to relax and make special memories with your friends and families over the holiday break. Now it is time to look forward to a wonderful school term.
St Elizabeth’s is such a special place to learn and grow. We are proud of our beautiful school and have high expectations for each and every student. Our students are kind, compassionate, and eager to learn. Together with our dedicated staff, we strive to make connections with students to help them feel valued, accepted, and safe.
We recognise that some of our students may be feeling anxious with the start of a new term, we will continue to place a strong emphasis on social, emotional learning while focusing on building classroom connections. We encourage families to stay connected and informed by reading the newsletter and Seesaw for updates and messages.
Our incredible staff have been at school throughout the break to prepare classrooms for the new term. Our office staff, Mrs Didlock, Mrs Dimond and Mrs De Ruyscher have been working very hard in the office to ensure a smooth start for staff, students, and families.
You will notice over the holiday break the concrete works on the oval have commenced. The pad in front of the shed and pathway along the fence line have been completed. A huge thank you to Mr Glenn and Mr Bright who have overseen the works and as always, the improvements to our school look amazing!
Staffing Updates
Mrs Clarke and Mrs Burgess are on LSL this term. We wish them both all the very best for their time away. They will both be away for the first two weeks of the term. Enjoy your time ladies!
Miss Baxter returned from LSL on Wednesday, looking very refreshed. We hope you enjoyed your extra-long holiday and we are glad you are back.
We welcome back Mrs Irwin from maternity leave. We hope you have enjoyed your special time with your family. We are very excited to have you back and working in the Pre Primary classroom.
Mr Glenn Surgery News
Mr Glenn had hip surgery this week and will be away for the next five weeks while he recuperates from his operation. We keep Mr Glenn in our prayers for a speedy recovery.
It has been a busy week for our staff and students. Here is a bit of what we have been up too this week!
Sacred Space and Yarning Circle Blessing and Opening
On Tuesday our Kindy to Year 6 students gathered with Father Peter to bless and officially open our new Sacred Spaces. It was a very moving ceremony lead by our Year 6 leaders, reminding us that our new spaces offer a place for reflection and being closer to God through his creation.
Our yarning circle also offers a space for quiet reflection and the wealth of culture and knowledge that the Aboriginal community have given us. Well done to Kim Manov and her team for their creative incites. We now have two special places in our school for staff and students to enjoy.
Past Student’s Visit from Mater Dei
On Tuesday we were blessed to have three of our ex-students, Holly, Seth and Ashton return to St Elizabeth’s for the day. The staff and students were happy to see their Year 7 friends from Mater Dei return and give back to their primary school community. Thank you for a wonderful day of fun and laughs, you're welcome back anytime!
Beginning of Term Mass with St Anthony’s
Today our students and staff from Years 4-6 attended a Beginning of Term Mass at St Anthony’s. It was wonderful to see our schools come together to celebrate the new term together. Our Year 5 students read reverently at mass and was a great way to start the day.
Friday - Pre Kindy
Mrs Mackie and Mrs Serraino welcomed our pre kindy students for a second Pre Kindy day today. There were lots of smiles, happy faces and fun learning experiences all day and we look forward to welcoming these new families into our school community.
Have a safe and wonderful weekend!
In gratitude
Emma Fernandez
