Filled with Gratitude
We have settled into the school year and learning is on fire at SGE! Our students and teachers are intentional, engaged, and enthusiastic about school! We are excited to get back to some of our SGE traditions and activities, as we maintain a safe and healthy learning environment. Our Red Ribbon week was filled with fun, as students and teachers participated in our spirit days and culminating Storybook Character Parade! We loved engaging as an entire school community!
This month we are focusing on gratitude. Our Food Pantry Drive is in full effect! Please help us fill our pantry so we can give back to some of our SGE families during this holiday season. As a reminder, we will have the entire week off for Fall break, due to no hurricane days!!! December 1 is another Virtual Learning Day, as the CCPS calendar has been amended. In order for a students to be marked present, they must go online and complete all of the virtual assignments provided by their teacher.
As always, thank you for being a positive and supportive school community! It takes each of us to create a safe, successful learning environment for our students! It is a pleasure being on this Journey to Greatness with each of you!
With gratitude,
Ms. Kirby
A Successful Red Ribbon Week
School Counselor's Corner
We had such a wonderful October together. Our students ended the month by enjoying our Red Ribbon Spirit Week! Thank you parents for your support with our different dress up days and of course our story book character parade to show off our “great character.” I know our seahorses will continue to make really excellent decisions and healthy choices 😊 Special shout-out to our parents of the Spirit Club for helping with decoration donations. Our SGE Spirit Club helped make our week extra special. Our hearts are full of gratitude as we enter the season of thanksgiving. The character trait of the month for November is gratitude. Our seahorses will be learning all about what it truly means to be grateful through Classroom Guidance Lessons and messages on the school news. Family, friends, school, teachers, and love are just some of the many things our students have expressed being grateful for. Our seahorses are working on our 2nd annual “Attitude of Gratitude” project where over 700 thank you notes are written by our students to our SGE teachers and staff. Our SGE food pantry is back open for business and we need your help in restocking it! See the flyer in this scoop to see how you can help us help our SGE Families. In the next couple weeks, be on the lookout for information about our Giving Tree and winter holiday gift collection.
Check out this Gratitude Game to continue the conversation at home- maybe a good dinner time icebreaker!

Changes in procedures
Great News! Our students are now all dining together in the cafeteria and they are enjoying it! The auxiliary rooms that were in use at the beginning of the year are no longer being used for student lunch time. We have also changed procedures for recess time. Students can play in various areas outside with their friends from other classes. Recess time is extremely beneficial for children, as they learn patience, how to cope with frustration, and the importance of sharing with others. Their social interactions provide them opportunities to build upon critical life skills that promote a sense of community. Our school assistants have truly formed solid, positive relationships with the students they supervise and continually share stories about the fun experiences they have with our children. We are definitely enjoying the positivity being spread throughout the school each day!

Media Center News with Ms. Barr
We’ve had a fantastic October in the Media Center, and we couldn’t have done it without you! Thank you all so much for participating in the Storybook Pumpkin Patch. Our Patch grew to a size I could have never imagined! We had over 80 pumpkins adorning our bookshelves, and they brought smiles to everyone that came into the Media Center. I’m blown away by the creativity of our Seahorses.
Not only did we have a wonderful Pumpkin Patch, we had a stellar Book Fair, too! Our “Fall in Love with Reading” Book Fair was the most successful Book Fair we’ve had in recent history. The look of joy on the students’ faces when they walked into the Book Fair was a wonderful sight. It was so fun to watch them shop for their next favorite book. I think we were all excited to get back this little piece of normalcy.
Stay tuned for more great events in the Media Center!
