Principal's Note
Hello Everyone,
While we still have one more day of school (June 10th), this will be the year's last Friday newsletter. Please remember that the last day of school is June 10th. Students are dismissed at 3:40 after our 5th grade clap-out. With that said, what a wonderful year it has been! On behalf of all of the staff here at Lowell, we want to say THANK YOU for allowing us the opportunity to serve your child. We believe that every child has unique strengths and talents, and we've enjoyed watching your kiddos use these strengths and talents to develop their social, emotional, and academic skills. Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to provide the best educational experience for all learners. We are truly team Lowell!
To all of our 5th grade families who won't be returning to Lowell, we wish you all the best as you move onto the adventures that await in middle school. We know we've equipped your students with the necessary skills that will enable them to have success, and we look forward to seeing them continue on their educational journey.
Please look for communication come August around the 19-20 school year. This summer we will be busy preparing for a successful start. Until then, I wish you a restful, relaxing, and fun summer vacation! Please continue to encourage your child to read each day and feel free to utilize the Lowell library (located by Door #2) as well as the Waukesha Public Library to get good books into the hands of your child!
Enjoy the break,
Rachel Hermann

Final Grades and Infinite Campus
The grade reports on the parent portal of Infinite Campus will be shut down on May 31st. This allows teachers time to enter in final grades and post comments before the end of the year. You should always feel free to reach out to your child's teacher if you have questions about his or her progress as the year comes to a close.
This spring, students in grades K - 5 took the MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) assessment. Students in grades K - 5 took the Math Assessment, and students in grades 2 - 5 took the Math and Literacy Assessment. MAP is an online assessment in reading and math that teachers and other professionals use to determine your child’s instructional levels, academic growth and other information that can help to improve teaching and learning. When working with assessment results it is important to interpret scores appropriately and not to place too much “weight” on any one score. It is appropriate to use the results from MAP along with the results of classroom performance (assignments, assessments, projects, observations, etc.) as well as other measures to determine a student’s academic progress. MAP holds great potential for helping us support students in successful learning growth. Additional information about MAP is available at www.nwea.org.
Map assessment results can be found on the assessment tab of Infinite Campus, and they will be posted by June 11th at 4:00 along with final grades for the last trimester.
If you would like to request a paper copy of your child's report card, please don't hesitate to ask your child's homeroom teacher.
