Shana Tucker’s ChamberSoul Cello & Songs is an all-ages, vocal-instrumental journey that introduces the art of musical storytelling through song. Students will create and participate in musical “conversations” through improvisation and weave stories into lyrics using the basic elements of song form. Shana travels through a multi-genre presentation of jazz, blues, pop, and folk, with a focus on melody and steady beat. Constant collaboration and participation is a fun, engaging (required!) part of the experience. Shana Tucker will meet with students during their regularly scheduled music classes- January 22-25 (tracks 2 and 4) and February 12-15 (tracks 1 and 3).
**This residency is made possibly through PTA fund raising. Thank you to everyone who has supported the PTA financially.
Elements of Song Music Residency- features melody, rhythm, emotion, and storytelling
Students will be "songwriters for the day" and work with Ms. Tucker (cello) and Mrs. Sonstroem (piano) to write their own verse and chorus to a pop or blues musical form, inspired by jingles and songs on the radio. Students will sing their collaborative creation in class!
