Celebrate Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week serves as a vehicle for communities and individuals to take a stand for the hopes and dreams of our children through a commitment to drug prevention and education and a personal commitment to live drug free lives with the ultimate goal being the creation of drug free America.
Gayman's theme for next week is "Sail Past Drugs". For a list of special activities for the week click here.
It's Socktober!
It’s Socktober! No, that’s not a typo. Socktober is an initiative to encourage everyone, young and old alike, to make a difference for the nearly 600,000 people who are homeless in the United States on any given night. This year, as part of Red Ribbon week and also to reinforce our ripple effect theme, we are going to be holding a one day sock drive here at Gayman Elementary. We are hoping to collect as many pairs of new, warm, adult sized socks as possible to be donated to a local homeless shelter. These socks will be collected on Thursday, October 30. A box will be in the main lobby. For more information, you can visit: http://soulpancake.com/socktober/

October Boomerang Award
This year, Gayman will continue to accept nominations for the Boomerang Award, which is our way of honoring students who best demonstrate their own developmental assets. What are Developmental Assets? Students possessing a combination of “40 Assets” are typically most successful in school and in life. These assets have the power to influence choices young people make and help them become caring, responsible adults. For a complete listing of the 40 Developmental Assets visit: www. Search-institute.org.
