Intervention News
For 3rd, 4th, & 5th Graders
Hi Everyone!
We hope this newsletter finds you and your families healthy! We know that teaching your children during this unprecedented time can be a challenge but we want to share with you some ideas and to encourage you to visit our teacher pages on the Frankfort School District Website to find a daily lesson to help support your student. This lesson can be done as often as you'd like but the intention is to provide another layer to your student's classroom teacher plan, which is what we'd be doing in intervention with your child. This newsletter is being sent to reading, math, or students with both interventions. Please know that we are available to help!
Mrs. Pierik and Mrs. Rowland
This is a great time to practice and MASTER multiplication facts!
The picture to the right is just one example (that includes art!) of a creative way to work toward mastery of multiplication facts. The center of the flower is the factor, the first set of petals is the other factor, and the second set of petals is the product. You can create giant flowers for a big garden look or you can create several flowers on one page to work on the facts that are especially challenging for you. I'd love for you to share your flowers with me! Send me a picture for the next newsletter!
Please Send Mrs. Rowland an e-mail to set up a Zoom time together!!
I'd love a chance to catch up with my students via Zoom. Last week, apparently (for some) my email went to spam. If you have a day, date, and time that would work for your family schedule, please email me at srowland@fsd157c.org so I can set that up! Thank you!!
3rd Grade: Raid your Pantry!
On this cold and rainy week, take an inventory of what's in your pantry to create a tally table to make a bar graph. All instructions are on Mrs. Rowland's teacher page!
4th Grade: Create Some Paper Airplanes!
Make your best paper airplanes, get a tape measure, and let them fly! This fun activity is to practice decimal place value. All instructions are on Mrs. Rowland's teacher page!
5th Grade: Find the Area of a Rectangle Using its Fractional Sides
This activity is exactly what you are doing in class right now for an extra layer of practice. This Spring Math Packet is on Mrs. Rowland's website and it includes all the answers so you are able to self-check!

SET UP A CHAT WITH MRS. PIERIK!
I would love to check in and help each one of you. Let's schedule a time to talk via zoom or on the phone. Email me at apierik@fsd157c.org. We can use this time to make sure you are able to access everything you need, do a quick review of a skill, or just share some stories about your time at home.
