Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Community Project, January 18, 2016
MLK Jr. Day of Service
This year during the MLK, Jr. Day of Service we are conducting a campus/community wide “Bring Back” initiative. Upon returning from winter break, we are asking that you consider bringing back to campus items that will assist various agencies in providing services throughout the year. Because many of the agencies supplies get depleted during the holiday season, your support is needed. Please bring any of the items listed here to the MLK Jr. Day of Service collection point in the Curris Center Banquet Room 1 between 8:00am - 10:15am on Monday, January 18, 2016. After the MLK Jr. Breakfast and Keynote, help will be needed to sort all of the donations for each agency and deliver them. All are welcome to stay and help.

60 for 60 Services Initiative
This year Murray State University (MSU) celebrates its 60th anniversary of desegregation. As part of the year-long events for this celebration, the MLK, Jr. Day of Service will kick-off the “60 for 60 Community Service Project” Initiative. To demonstrate MSU’s commitment to service, the MLK, Jr. Day of Service Committee is challenging all student organizations to complete at least 1 meaningful community service projects throughout the year in honor of the 60th anniversary of desegregation. Our goal is to recognize at least 60 organizations for their service during this academic year. The Committee understands that student organizations continually provide service throughout the year, and as such, we feel confident that the 60 for 60 Initiative is attainable.
To ensure your organization’s community service work is recognized as part of the Initiative, please complete the MLK, Jr. Day of Service "60 for 60" Community Service Evaluation Form for service performed between August 2015 and December 31, 2015. New volunteer opportunities can be posted at volunteer.murraystate.edu.
Organizations that complete community service projects between August 2015 and March 31, 2016 will be recognized at the 11th Annual Diversity Achievement Awards Reception on Friday, April 1, 2016.
