Plickers for Formative Assessment
Sometimes you want to take a quick pulse of your students' understanding without making it a big thing. Many teachers have used personal whiteboards that students hold up with the answer all at the same time. This can also be done on the iPads with students just writing on an app and holding it up. The problem with these options is that students can easily look at others work when it is held up and unless you take pictures of all the whiteboards you can't capture the answers to inform your next lesson. This is where Plickers comes in!
The teacher only needs the Plickers app. You create an account, print the cards, upload your roster, and assign a card to each student. I printed mine on card stock and laminated it to use over and over again. When you launch a question on your whiteboard, students hold up their cards and you record their answers with the app. Easy peasy and full of great data.
