CIS Weekly Update

#6: September 27-October 1

PRINCIPAL MESSAGE

This week we have our first night of parent-teacher conferences on Wednesday, September 29 from 4:30-8:00pm. Our conferences are a blend of in person and virtual conferences. Other conference evenings will include: October 7 (11:30-7:00), November 4 (8:10-3:40), and February 1 (4:30-8:00).

We have three weeks left in the first quarter. It is important that our students and families pay close attention to Progress Book and make sure all assignments get completed prior to October 15. You can log in to Progress Book here. If you have any questions regarding grades/assignments then please reach out to your child's teachers.

Have a WONDERFUL week!!

CIS Read-A-Thon - THANK YOU!

We collected $12,597.80 during our Read-A-Thon! That means we will have just over $10,000 to spend on classroom libraries. Our school read a GRAND TOTAL of 64,250 minutes. We are very proud of all students for their efforts during the Read-A-Thon.

FAMILIES AND FRIENDS OF CIS: THANK YOU for making this fundraiser a HUGE success! Please spread the thanks!!

Dress For The Weather

Fall has arrived and so has the inconsistent weather. Some days are warm and some days are much cooler. It is important for our students to pay attention to the weather so they are dressed appropriately. This will be more important as the temperatures drop in the coming weeks. Thank you for your help!

CHESS CLUB: SESSION ONE - LAST CALL!

If your child would like to participate in Chess Club then please sign your student up as soon as possible. We will have 24 students participate in the first session (October 6-January 22). It is a first come, first served basis. Chess Club will be on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:00pm.

END-OF-DAY CHANGES

Please be sure to call Mrs. Lanham, our attendance clerk, prior to 2:45pm with any dismissal changes. We often have over 30 change of plans and it takes time to communicate with students and teachers. Sending an email isn't recommended. We prefer you call 330-335-1481. Thank You!

CIS Counselors - PARENT NEEDS ASSESSMENT

Mrs. Rohrbach (our 5th grade School Counselor) and I develop our programming each year based on the needs of our students. We use a Needs Assessment that we give to our parents and families and also our students and teachers. This information helps us create classroom lessons, groups and programming that meet specific needs.

If you are willing, please complete the Google Form in the link below. It should take just 5-7 minutes. Also, at the bottom is information regarding Groups that we offer at CIS. If you would like your student to join a group, you can indicate this in the survey or send us an email. Thank you!

COVID-19 & ILLNESS AT CIS

Please take a look at the attached documents. These documents will be used to guide our decision making at CIS regarding COVID-19 and illness. It is important that you keep your child home from school if he/she isn't feeling well. Our families did a great job last year, so we are hopeful we can continue that this year. If you have any questions then please reach out to us.
