PEOur amazing PE teacher, Ms. Lankes, is teaching the students Soccer techniques and skills. The students are all so engaged from K-5 grade. Ms. Lankes does a great job of building on the soccer skills from grade to grade. | ArtOur great art teacher, Mrs. Fouts, has the 4th graders working finishing up their artwork inspired by Sandra Silberzweig. The 4 th graders were excited to share with me how they blend their pastels to create the color they wanted. They also shared how they used the color wheel to determine the complimentary colors for their artwork. | MusicMr. Koenig, our upbeat music teacher, is working with our 3 rd graders teaching them about the dogfight and the trio. They listened for this type of musical playing while listening to the US Marine Band play. |

December Trait of the Month is Compassion. We are looking for students to display the trait of compassion. | Text/Resource Adoption InformationDuring the past two school years, CFSD’s K-12 social studies revision team has been learning about the state’s History and Social Science Standards and creating the curriculum performance scales, which will guide the content for instruction. The standards are being implemented over three years. This school year, only Grade 3: Arizona Studies, World History, AP World History Modern (grade 9), Economics (grade 12), and AP Microeconomics are being implemented. The standards for grades K-2, 4-5, 6-8 and high school courses United States History (grade 10) and United States Government (grade 12) are under consideration for implementation in 2023-2024. As part of the process, the revision team reviews and proposes texts/resources for adoption that are recommended to the governing board prior to implementation. The revision team considers traditional publisher resources, online resources/programs, and open source curriculum resources. Information about curriculum revision and implementation and a list of the proposed social studies texts and other supplementary resources that are currently undergoing a 60-day preview can be found at this link: https://www.cfsd16.org/academics/curriculum-revision-and-adoption. Print texts are on display at the CFSD district office. | Upcoming Spelling BeeVentana Vista will be holding a school spelling bee, optional for interested students 1st thru 5th grade, on Thursday 12/15, 3:30 pm. Ms. Baker will be offering a spelling club in her room (103) on Monday 12th for students who would like to practice from 12:15 pm - 1:00 pm. Students can pick up practice lists from Ms. Baker before or after school/at the spelling club or you can email Ms. Baker directly to request a list or for more information, mbaker@cfsd16.org. |

Dinner and a Snow! ❄️Join us at Blanco at La Encantada THIS Thursday, December 8 for an extra-special holiday edition of our monthly dine-out (Yes, this is a date change). Enjoy delicious Mexican cuisine, and Blanco will give a very generous 30% of sales (excluding alcohol) to VVFFO when you mention Ventana Vista. You may want to make a reservation… it can get busy this time of year. And, while your family is at La Encantada, enjoy their Enchanted Snowfall presentation in the courtyard with falling “snow,” live music, complimentary hot cocoa, and of course, their gorgeously decorated tree. Snowfall at 6 pm and 6:45 pm. Can’t attend for dinner? Fundraiser lasts 11 am-9 pm, so grab lunch and enjoy kid-free shopping! Can’t stay at the restaurant? In-person to-go ordering will also count towards our fundraiser (please note: online or call-ahead orders not allowed for the fundraiser). | December Holiday Drive Ventana Vista is partnering again this year with More than a Bed. More than a Bed supports adoptive, foster and kinship families so that they will have easily accessible everyday essentials.
