About Him

He was born on February 2, 1981. He lives in Portland, Ore. He became an Olympian when his left leg was amputated above the knee. He was injured by an improvised explosive device while he was serving in the U.S. Army in Iraq in February 2007. All of the team mates are veterans and their county motivates them the most.

Awards, Medals, and Facts.

In 2012, he helped team USA to a first-place finish. In 2013, he helped team USA to a silver medal. And in 2013, he also helped team USA to a first place finish. He is a first-year member of the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team. His sled number is 23. And he skated in all 5 games in 2012-2013, notching a goal and two assists.

He is 32 years old.

Rico Roman does many things to prepare to his event. He does a lot of rowing, medicine ball training, and also chopping wood because sled hockey involves a lot of core strength to balance on blades.
