Demeter and Persephone
(A) What was the consequence of Demeter’s actions?
The consequence of Demeter's actions were that she cursed the land to become cold and not fertile. Demeter made it so animals would die all because Persephone ate the four pomegranate seeds.
(B) How did humankind suffer as a result of one individual’s impulses?
Humankind suffered because Persephone ate the four pomegranate seeds and she had to stay in the underworld with Hades for 4 months. Demeter became mad so she cursed the land and animals. Humans had a hard time surviving.
(C) What does this myth suggest about the effects of an individual’s actions on the community as a whole?
This myth shows that when one person does a action it can effect the people around you.

(A) Was the Emperor’s decision at the legend’s beginning better for the individual or the community?
The Emperor's decision was good for the community in my opinion because he focused on running the community instead of letting his daughter marry and getting distracted.
(B) Is it ever important to consider the needs of a community over the needs of an individual? Explain.
I thinks it is important to sometimes consider the needs of a community over an individual because if one person isn't happy then that can weigh things down and bring the community down.
Sun and Moon in a Box
(A) How do Coyote’s ignorance and selfishness cause harm to others?
Coyote's ignorance and selfishness caused harm to others because Coyote let the sun and the moon out of the box and they couldn't get it back.
(B) Which character bears more blame for losing the sun and moon? Why?
Eagle bears more blame for losing the sun and moon then Coyote did because Eagle gave Coyote the box that had the sun and moon in it.
(C) What does this folk tale imply about the individual’s responsibility to the community?
The folk tale imply's that Coyote is not responsible because Eagle trusted Coyote to not open the box and Coyote disobeyed Eagle and opened the box. Coyote let the Sun and the Moon out of the box.
