Principal's Message
The big deal happening at ACE this week is that our playgrounds FINALLY open! I announced this to the kids on Friday morning and I had so many of them tell me how excited they are to finally get to play on the equipment. Our littlest Bluejays did get to play on our pre-K and kindergarten equipment, and they LOVED it! We even had one of them stumble and fall and the surface bounced them back up! No scrapes or bruises, and the student just kept going.
Our teachers will be working this week on looking through the club application forms that your students have submitted. They should be announcing club participants within a week, so be on the lookout for that.
We are always so grateful for your support and kind words. Thank you for making our staff feel special each and every week!
Important upcoming dates!
- September 15 - Dot Day Celebration- Students wear dots to school to celebrate International Dot Day in the art world! Students have been creating their dot masterpieces in Art class each week.
- September 20 - Elementary Student Holiday/Staff Workday
- September 30 - PTO Celebration Fees Due
- October 4-8 - Student/Staff Fall Break
Yes, YOU can teach math to your kids!
Construction Update
Over the last week in the construction world, the following has happened:
Final clean up of the area around the playground.
Final installation of our door badge readers. These will allow staff to swipe their badge to unlock the doors of our building.
Final install of ceiling in lobby and library. The original was put there for the fire inspection. The new one is outlined in orange, making it look like our lobby tree is entering fall with its leaves changing. It looks really great!
New Faces at ACE
Angela is a New Jersey native and moved to Texas 5 years ago. Prior to moving, she spent 5 years as an investigator for Child Protective services. She comes to ACE from the Harris County Department of Education where she was a Family Service Provider for the Head Start program. She is excited to be here and work with the ACE students as a BC Paraeducator.
Staff Favorite Book
The Sisters Grimm is actually a 9-book series that follows two descendants of the Grimm brothers as they discover the truth behind their beloved fairytale characters! Once thought to be made up characters in made up situations, Sabrina and Daphne learn the stories are more than just make believe as well as how their own lives will now intertwine with the fascinating town and residents of Ferryport Landing.
ACE Parent Needed for Citizen's Bond Committee
Humble ISD invites parents, staff members, students, residents, and district taxpayers to serve on the 2021-2022 Citizens Bond Advisory Committee (CBAC).
This important committee will advise the Humble ISD Administration and School Board in planning for school experiences that support positive school experiences now and for generations to come! Learn about the district’s growth, facilities and finances, and then provide input and feedback regarding the need and scope of a bond referendum.
Anyone interested in serving should attend Orientation on either Thursday, Sept. 16, or on Monday, Sept. 20, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the new Lakeland Elementary School, 1101 Rustic Timbers Drive, in Humble. Interested committee members need to attend only one orientation session (Sept. 16 or Sept. 20). Both sessions will cover the same content.
Committee work sessions will be held on Sept. 27, Oct. 14, Oct. 25, Nov. 8, Nov. 18, and Dec. 2 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. A supper will be offered at 5:45 p.m. prior to the work session. The committee meetings will be held at the new Lakeland Elementary School.
Attendance is taken at orientation and meetings. Only two absences are allowed because discussions build upon topics covered at prior sessions.
