A Slice of “Spiritual Bread” for the Christian Home . . .

1 Give thanks to the Lord.
Proclaim his name.
Make his deeds known among the peoples.
2 Sing to him, make music to him.
Meditate on all his wonders.
3 Take pride in his holy name.
Let the heart of those who seek the Lord rejoice.

Psalm 105: 1-3

What would your “Thanksgiving List” look like today? I am not talking about the list you may take to the store to get the items for a wonderful family meal on Thanksgiving Day. I am asking what your list ~ together with your loved ones ~ of “Thanks” would include.

The words of the Psalmist offer you and me a timely reminder. As we think about the blessings ~ and there are many ~ of our gracious Lord; we have a special opportunity before us. That special chance is to offer thanks and praise to our God in various ways!

Have a wonderful day and may Jesus always keep you in His care!

Blessings in Christ,

Jon Woldt, Principal

Robotics Here at St. John!

St. John is working with Shoreland High School and the REC Foundation to enter the world of robotics competition. We will be establishing one to two teams (depending on interest, coaches/volunteers) of students in grades 4-8.

We do need help to make the most of this program. We are looking for coaches (volunteers) to help facilitate this program. Previous experience is not needed, but can be helpful!

Below you will see a suggested outline of the time commitment. If this is something you would be interested in helping with and would like more information, please let Sarah Lofsness or Ms. Saidler know!

What is the Time Commitment?

  • October - Organizational meeting with interested students/parents

  • October-December - Hold 1-2 build sessions per week after teams are established (1-1.5 hours each)

    • Best practices say hold the first 2-4 sessions on Saturday mornings for 2-3 hours to get organized, designing, and building

  • December-January - hold practices, scrimmages, and allow for students to fine-tune robots

  • January - Wisconsin Valley IQ Tournament @ SLHS

    • Additional tournaments (determined by participating school)

  • February - State Tournament (Must qualify to attend)

  • April - Worlds (Must qualify to attend)

Again, thank you for considering this and please let Sarah Lofsness or Hannah Saidler know if you are interested in helping, or know of someone else who may!

Culver's Share Night

Culver's is "sharing the night" with you, your family and friends to help our Parent Teacher Partnership raise funds for St. John Lutheran School. Invite your friends and family to visit Culver's for a delicious ButterBurger and a handmade ice cream treat on Tuesday, October 22 from 4-7pm and 10% of the sales from their meal will help us fund future projects. An excellent opportunity for a family dinner before that evening's Grade3-8 presentation of the Wizard of Oz.

Grandparents Day

On Wednesday, October 23, we have a special day to honor Grandparents and other important individuals in your child's life. Make sure you have returned mailing addresses to teachers. Even if a loved one lives too far away to travel or cannot make it, we would still like to send them an invitation!

Trunk or Treat...Sunday October 27, 2-4pm

Bring your kiddos dressed up in their Halloween finest to trick-or-treat in our parking lot. We've had a great turn-out in past years and want to make this one even better. We need more volunteers to host a trunk for this year's edition of the event. If you would like to host a trunk or have questions concerning the event, please contact Paul Massey at paul.massey@stjohnslib.com. https://forms.gle/jeDbDi25FybMoTXf9
