Message from the Principal

JAJHS Families,

I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break! It was nice to have a change in pace and time to reflect on all that we are thankful for.

Around JAJHS, this is such an exciting time of year! Our winter athletic teams are busy most nights each week. Our vocal and instrumental music programs are preparing for next week's concerts and we are excited to see our Drama Club's production of "After Hours" next weekend!

In the classrooms, students are working hard on projects, labs, and activities! It is hard to believe we just have a few weeks left in the semester!

Please be sure to review the important information below in the newsletter. Have a great weekend!

*Mrs. Danner and Mrs. Kline's Language Arts students have successfully submitted their essays to the New York Times Personal Narrative Competition. We are now exercising our investigatory skills by examining the Abraham Lincoln assassination conspiracy. We will be examining historical documents and building and trying some cases.

*Mr. Woolley and Mr. Whitt's Science classes are finishing their chapter on waves. Next they will be investigating the periodic chart!

* The 7th grade Math teachers would like to thank the parents who have recently donated items for our recent labs on Ratios and Proportions. We couldn't have done this without you!

8th Grade - Washington, DC Trip Update

We are still in the process of gathering information regarding our tour company and the possibilities of a June 2022 Washington, DC trip for our 8th graders. We hope to be able to share information with 8th grade families soon about an informational meeting. Stay tuned!

S.O.S Program

Jonathan Alder Junior High School in collaboration with Nationwide Children’s Hospital, recently completed the Signs of Suicide (SOS) program with our 8th grade students. As a follow-up, please consider reviewing these helpful resources.

JAJHS Drama Club Production

The JAJHS Drama Club has been busy preparing for our upcoming performance of "After Hours" by Kevin Stone. Our performances will be next Friday and Saturday, December 10th and 11th, at 7:00 P.M. at JAJHS. Admission is free!

Thanksgiving Baskets

Mrs. Garner and the JAJHS Student Council would like to send a BIG thank you to all families who donated for our Thanksgiving Drive. We were able to provide food for 8 families and lots of extra canned goods for the DNA Food Pantry. Thank you for your support in giving back to our community!

Diabetes Fundraiser

Student Council will be selling blue Ring Pops for $2 each and blue Air Heads for $1 each to raise money for the Diabetes Foundation. November was actually Diabetes Awareness Month, but because of our Thanksgiving Food Drive we postponed this fundraiser until December.

Students may buy these items from Student Council Members during lunch starting Thursday, December 2nd through Friday, December 10th. Students who purchase an item can add their name to our sponsor wall! We would like to thank Mrs. Lupia for her initial contribution for these items.

Band Updates

Winter Band Concert

Our JAJHS Winter Band Concert is just around the corner and we are excited to show you what we have been working on! The 7th and 8th grade band students will be performing on December 7th at 7:00 P.M. at the JAHS Auditeria. We hope to see you there!

Honor Band

We are excited to announce that five of our JAJHS Band students were selected to participate in the Ohio Music Educators Association Junior High Honor Band. The event was held Saturday, November 20th, at Thomas Worthington High School. Students rehearsed for one day with band members from other schools and performed a concert together that evening.

Substitute with us!

Are you interested in joining our JAJHS community as a substitute teacher? We would love to have you!

Information and applications are available online. Education requirements are simply a Bachelor’s Degree in any area. Please consider applying or sharing with anyone who may be interested!

Reminders from JAJHS Office

Medications at School

Sometimes parents ask that school personnel administer medication to their child during the school day. When this is necessary, we require written permission and instructions from the parent and in some instances from the doctor.

The required form Distribution/Student Use of Medicines/Medications must be completed and turned in to the junior high office with the medication to be administered.

School Fees

The school fees for 7th and 8th grade can be paid online using MyPaymentsPlus or you can bring cash or check to the school office. The fees are $30 per student for the 2021-2022 school year.
