5th Grade PE

Physical Education Newsletter

Physical Education at a glance for 5th Grade

This year physical education changes for your 5th grader in many ways. The focus will be team, partner and individual sports rather than individual skills. Over the course of the year, they will rotate through a variety of units such as basketball, volleyball, flag football, archery, spike ball, floor ball, ping pong, badminton, indoor tennis, kickball, wiffleball, soccer and many more. We also have game days and fitness days for the entire grade once every 2-3 weeks.

P.E. Groups

Divided into 4 groups outside of their homerooms, these 5th graders will be together until they are regrouped after the first round of units. The group names are a funny or clever team name chosen by the 6th graders.

What your 5th grader has been up to

We began with teaching the 5th graders a few mass games, followed by the first round of fitness testing which we will be sending home at the end of the first 9 weeks. They are now in their individual groups rotating through Volleyball, Rec Games, Archery and Basketball.
