Mercury is a chemical element with the symbol Hg and has the atomic number 80. Its atomic weight is 200.59. Mercury is the only metallic element that is liquid at standard temperature and pressure. Although it is used for medicine it is known that it can be hazardous and toxic. The ancient Chinese and Indians were credited for the finding of this element.

Mercury is used all lot in our lives, here are some of the uses of mercury:

-It is used for making thermometers, barometers, diffusion pumps and many other instruments.

As you can see mercury is important to our everyday lives and without it some extraordinary creations would not have existed.
