Friday Focus

Holy Name of Mary, March 1, 2019

It's the weekend!

Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for another great week! Kristine commented late Friday afternoon that it was so productive (and exhausting!) to finally have a full week of teaching without any major interruptions. It has certainly been challenging for all of us to get into a good rhythm since Christmas.

As always, we are ahead of the curve at Holy Name of Mary. Somehow the "Momo Challenge" hit our school before any others in the school board this week! Thank you so much to all of you for helping to calm the students' fears and handle the crying and hysteria on Wednesday. By Thursday we had dealt with it and it was a no longer an issue.

It was so great to see you all join in the fun of dressing up in pink on Wednesday and in dressy attire on Friday. I didn't actually think anyone would take me up on the challenge of wearing their wedding gown to school, but happily, Shannon did! She even did yard duty in that dress! Way to get into the spirit, you guys.

We are finally moving in!

It's official...our scheduled move-in date is Monday, March 18th! The Board has reserved a moving company for Saturday March 16th.

We will let you know which classrooms you are moving to early next week. It is the school's responsibility to pack and clearly label each box and tag each piece of furniture with the room number of the room it is destined for. Lauren will print numbered labels for you with your new classroom number to help make the process easier. Moving boxes should be delivered from the Board Office this week. (This is a good time to "Marie Kondo" your classroom if there are things that no longer "spark joy"!)

Hopefully we can make both the packing and unpacking a team effort. Students can help with the packing, and I'm sure that teachers who are having to move would appreciate any help the rest of the staff can offer. From the dates they have given us, it sounds like the unpacking and setting up of desks and chairs is going to have to happen on Sunday, March 17th. If you are available to help out that day, we will probably need as many hands on deck as possible to get those 6 classrooms set up in time for Monday the 18th. Let us know if you are available to help. (We can all go out for a green beverage afterwards to make things a little more fun and festive!)

Good Stuff

As always, there was lots of "good stuff" happening in and around the school this week. There was definite excitement in the air with the two dress up days we had and with the construction finally nearing completion. Click on any of the small photos to see a closeup.

The Week Ahead

Please check our Holy Name of Mary Staff calendar for all of the latest updates on what is happening this week at HNOM. As we often have last-minute changes, checking the staff calendar is the best way to get the most up-to-date information on events and absences. This short video tutorial will show you how it's done.

At this point, I am not sure if we are going to be able to reschedule Friday's Faith Assembly with all of the meetings we have taking place the next two mornings, so please practice the songs that Lee sent out last week with your classes. If we can squeeze it in on Monday or Tuesday afternoon, we will.
