Cooper Mountain Newsletter
August 9, 2018
Dear Cooper Mountain Families,
If you have come by the school at all, you have seen quite a bit of activity. We've had some interior painting done, work on the portable buildings, and of course, the removal of our big slide- which will happen any day now. We have also had a lot of classroom moves:
Kindergarten is now in A Hall
1st grade is in A Hall and one class is in C Hall
2nd grade is in B Hall
Ms. Zindle's class is in B Hall
3rd grade is in C Hall
4th grade is in the Modular building
Ms. Gilmour's class is in the Modular building
5th grade is in the Portables.
Because we had so many classroom moves, our custodians, Ms. Randolph and Mr. Berry have been working very hard to scrub classrooms, polish floors, oversee maintenance work and support teachers in their moves. We are still actively working on getting everything ready, but you will see a bright and shiny school on August 27th, our first day.
I'm looking forward to seeing you soon!
Kristin
Student Verification, Registration, & ParentVue
Our office is open next week, August 13-17 from 8-4. Please come in and register your child as soon as you are able. This helps us plan for balanced classes!
If you have neighbors that are new to the Beaverton School District, encourage them to to come in and register their child, or to go online and register their child. We are especially interested in getting kindergarten students registered now. Help spread the word!
It's time to make sure you have activated your ParentVue account. This is how you will learn who your child's teacher is next year. It is also the venue for paying for enrollment verification, paying for field trips, etc. If you need help, call our office!

Back to School Readiness
- Practice getting to bed at a healthy time to ensure adequate sleep (most students need about 10 hours).
- Wake your child at a normal school-ready time. Remember, they should be at the building no later than 8:25 to get to their room by 8:30.
- Eat breakfast!
- Use lunchtime to eat lunch. Our lunch periods are 20 minutes and that includes walking into the cafeteria, selecting lunch, waiting in line to pay, and eating.
- Select an area for your child to leave information for you: newsletters, notices from school, etc.
- Select an area for homework to be done. It should be comfortable and near you in case your child needs support.
If you can ease your child into these expectations, August 27th will be a lot easier to manage!
Safety Request
Parents, after the first three days of school, please say goodbye to your child at home, in the car, or at the door of the school. Please do not enter the school with your child unless you need to come to the office. Your child is capable (with school personnel assistance at times) of navigating the halls to Morning Mix, and we can monitor children far more effectively without extra adults in the building. We appreciate your understanding!
Safety in the Afternoon:
Dismissal Procedure. Parents please do not pick your child up during the last half hour of school. Students are still learning content in their classrooms or specials classes, and our secretaries are always busy answering phone calls regarding changes in going home plans. We know that there are occasions where you must get your child early, but we hope it is only in an emergency. Thank you!
Safety as a Volunteer:
Please complete your Background Check now! All adults must clear a background check to be able to volunteer or participate in classroom activities or field trips. It generally takes at least two weeks for the process to clear, so act early and get it done to enjoy those moments with your child later in the year.
