MISDEF: Together We Grow
Hello Longhorn Parents and Staff!
The Montgomery ISD Education Foundation is hosting its first community fundraiser, Together We Grow, on Saturday, April 24th from 7-11pm. This event is the remodeled version of their annual Gala, and will take place outdoors at the Old Community Center in Historic Montgomery. The Education Foundation board is putting great effort into making this event an inclusive and community-wide venture that will be a successful fundraiser for their scholarship and teacher grant programs. I'm telling you about this event because I need your help!
At the event that night (which we hope you will attend!) the foundation will be rewarding a $2000 campus grant to one MISD Principal and I would LOVE for Lone Star Elementary to win! There will be hustle teams of parents from LSE working at the event, selling sponsorship tickets to those in attendance that want to support our cause. The campus with the most hustle will win! The good news is, the hustle STARTS NOW!
Below (and on YouTube) you will see a video of me explaining what we will do with the money if our campus wins, and I need you to do a few things to spread the word:
- Watch the video!
- Click on THIS LINK and purchase campus sponsorship tickets (at the very bottom) to help our school win. This is where the hustle happens folks! Make sure you put Lone Star Elementary in the blank so we get the credit for your purchase!
- While you're on the link, go ahead and purchase tickets to attend this great night! Get a babysitter and come support our amazing district! It will be a great night of BBQ, live music AND MORE in the heart of our growing town!
- SHARE the link and SHARE my video on all your social media platforms! Anyone can purchase tickets to support our hustle, and anyone can attend our event, so let's help the Longhorns come out on top!
- LIKE and FOLLOW the MISD Education Foundation Page on Facebook HERE. You can even tag them when you make your posts about the event!
By the way, If you own a business and would like to help the Education Foundation by being an event sponsor, the link provided also provides the different levels of giving, and you can purchase a reserved table for you and your neighbors!
The MISD Education Foundation is hopeful that this community-wide event will bring together our parents, community leaders, staff and administration to support the goals of our wonderful district, for it is true that "Together We Grow!"

Dear Lone Star Families,
We are seeing a decrease in Covid symptoms in our area! #peanutsganghappydance
The MISD free Covid testing center nurses were standing around twiddling their thumbs. So, to stretch tax dollars, the Covid testing center has shortened hours. It is now only taking appointments 8:20-11:20am on M,W,F.
Even with this good news, we still need to keep our immune fighters strong enough to kick Covid butt and take variant names. Going to the pharmacy and checking out vitamin/supplement aisle is quite confusing. Many bottles will allege superhero powers once taking them. Supplements and vitamins are not FDA regulated. Our immune systems are not easily fixed by popping a pill, even daily.
Lifestyle healthy habits are the best to keep us strong. Healthy eating is one of the best things we can do . Eating plenty of healthy "whole food" with the least amount processing it is best for our bodies. It is best to try to stay away from foods with long labels that have words we don't know how to pronounce. Please don't drive to your favorite donut store, show them your vaccine proof, and eat their donut. My opinion is donuts need to have a negative number on their nutrition facts. All the harmful ingredients in them can cause major inflammation in our bodies and weaken our kick boxing lymphocytes. I confess I have eaten at least 20 lbs worth of nutritionally deficient foods, especially in the last year. But no more! I want to remain strong and healthy.
Please check out links below. Especially the Peanuts Gang dancing. Maybe your family can try some of the moves? I am going to practice the twins moves. And that will intro the next healthy habit, exercise.

monica.lemke@misd.orgWeekly COVID Positive Case Notification (April 19-23)
Dear Lone Star Elementary Parents and Staff,
During the week of April 19-23, we were notified about 1 positive COVID-19 tests for an individual in our building. The individual had not been in our building for 4 days, and there wer no school-related cases of close contact.
A close contact is defined as someone within 6 feet of the individual for 15 minutes or longer without protective face coverings or someone who was directly exposed to infectious secretions. We feel it is our responsibility to keep our parents and staff informed as much as possible during this time. Disinfecting of the building continues to happen on a nightly basis. Teachers and staff are diligently cleaning commonly touched surfaces throughout the day according to TEA Guidelines.
We are taking every step possible to stop the spread to others. If you are experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, we strongly encourage you to consult with your health care provider and communicate with your campus nurse. We will continue to monitor the situation and report required information to the Montgomery County Health Department.
Sincerely,
Lone Star Elementary Administration
