The Buzz at Westbrook School
April 16, 2021
From the Principal...
Dear Westbrook Families,
It was a joy to see so many students at Westbrook this week! We have had a wonderful start to our spring learning models! Our in-person learners have done an excellent job of learning new procedures and routines, including classroom/lunch procedures and recess expectations. We have spray-painted our grass to create different zones for recess. It was a lot of fun to see students hula-hooping, running around, and playing on the playground together in the sunshine during recess!
Our remote learning model has not changed, aside from the starting and ending time. All of our students are now on the same schedule.
This week, all of our teachers spent some time building their classroom families by having students learn about each other through different activities such as playing “Would You Rather” activities (for example: students may run in place if they would rather play in a pool OR do jumping jacks if they would rather jump on on a trampoline) or having students using their individual play-dohs to show their favorite foods or activities. We love when our students are able to make connections with each other!
StoryWalk
The Mount Prospect Public Library set up a StoryWalk around our school! In a StoryWalk, pages of a book are transformed into signs and placed along a path. You and your family can walk along the path around our school and read the book All Are Welcome by Alexandra Penfold! Our StoryWalk will only be up for another week! Feel free to share pictures with the Mount Prospect Public Library by using the hashtag #mpplstorywalk or emailing pictures to penpal@mppl.org.
