Digging Up Dinosaurs!
Check out what we've been up to so far this summer!
During these past few weeks:
*We learned about how FOSSILS are the remains of plants and animals from a long time ago.
*We learned that there are scientists called PALEONTOLOGISTS who dig up these dinosaur fossils and then study them!
*We learned that there are different types of dinosaurs. Some ate only plants (HERBIVORES), some ate only meat (CARNIVORES), some only walked on 2 legs (BIPEDS), and some walked on 4 legs (QUADRUPEDS).
How To Make Your Own Coffee Ground "Fossils"
1 cup of used coffee grounds
1/2 cup of cold coffee
1 cup of flour
1/2 cup of salt
Mixing bowl
Some small objects to make impressions in the dough
How To Make It:
1. Stir together the coffee grounds, cold coffee, flour, and salt until well mixed.
2. Knead the dough together.
3. Roll out into balls and then flatten out (big enough to fit your "fossil" objects).
4. Press your object firmly into the dough. When you take the object out, you have your "fossil"!
5. Let fossil dry overnight.
*Want to make EDIBLE fossils at home? Make impressions on sugar cookie dough and then bake for a special treat!*
