SPEECH AND DEBATE NEWS

Lily Klapper competed in the Lions Club Regional speaking competition on Wednesday, April 6th. Lily took top honors (and $250) and moves on to the next level of competition speaking on the topic "How Can Kindness Reunite Our Country". Lily will compete next in the District Student Speaker Contest on Saturday, April 23th in Camarillo.

Guitar Community Club

Are you interested in the guitar? Do you want to give back to your community and help people reconnect with each other? If so, consider joining the newly revamped Music Fanatics club, now called the Guitar Community club, a group dedicated to teaching the guitar out in the community. Planning and participating in teaching sessions, fundraising, Open Mic Nights, and interacting with local businesses to get guitars are all part of the club’s agenda. No experience is necessary, and all guitar skill levels are welcome. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, April 12th in room 307 at lunch. For more information, head to room 307 and talk to Ms. Wilson or contact John Fairweather at 173258@lmusd.org.

~Seniors~

Lawn Sign Pickup
SENIOR MEETING TAKES PLACE THIS WEDNESDAY, APRIL 13TH DURING GOVT/ECON CLASSES IN THE MPR: Seniors will be filling out their senior survey, discussing senior events and will receive their caps and gowns. Be sure to be there, seniors!

GIVE BACK 250 POTENTIAL HONOREES: Please note that the deadline to submit hours is April 28th to Mr. Hurtado in room #919. If you want to know more, swing by his classroom.


COLLEGE VISITS: Seniors and juniors planning a college/military visit should stop by the Attendance Office to pick up an Excused Absence Request form ahead of their visit. If approved, up to two days may be excused. Visits that will last longer than two days would require a Short Term Independent Study Contract to excuse the absence.

BULLDOG REGISTRATION RALLY: Need Help Registering for Summer and/or Fall 2022 Classes? Join Allan Hancock College on Saturday, Apr 30, 2022 from 9am - 2pm at the Santa Maria Campus in Student Services.

Homework Center

The Homework Center has new hours! From 3:00-4:00 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, come to the HW Center to have a quiet place to focus and complete your work! Be sure to show up before 3:15 as the HW Center will close if there are no students by then. See you there!

Community Service Opportunities

New Opportunity from City of Arroyo Grande Recreation on April 16, 2022 for the Egg Hunt & Festival. Check the AGHS Community Service Opportunities Page for Details.


Community Service Opportunity: Help is needed at the SLO County Track Meet which is scheduled to happen at AGHS on Saturday April 23rd all day long.Yes, it is during Spring Break, so sign up early, and you will be rewarded nicely for your hours of work. Sign up in room 309 or in room 908.

Submitting your community service hours

The Google Form for Community Service Hours is used for the graduation requirement of 20 hours. Any hours in addition to your graduation requirement should be submitted on the Give Back 250 Google Classroom with Mr. Hurtado.

CONSTRUCTION ALERT

Construction at AGHS: A new fence was installed around Valley Road over the weekend. The land will now be used for special agricultural projects at AGHS. Parents wishing to pick up or drop off can stop along the access road on Castillo del Mar where there is room to wait.

REMINDERS: STAFF: Wear your ID when on campus.


TEACHER PARTICIPATION: As case managers and counselors are setting up meetings with students with Fs, it is absolutely vital and expected that all teachers participate in IEP, 504 and SST meetings. It is imperative that you provide your feedback and participation...a sub can be provided if needed, just let the case manager know. Please indicate on the calendar invite why you can’t make it if you decline.
