Playground Update and Incoming 1st Grader Summer Playdate
As many of you know, Sunnyside is in the process of getting a new playground and we are currently in the final phase of installation! The main section of our existing playground was replaced this past fall and the remaining portion is being replaced over this summer.
We would like to invite our incoming 1st grade students to an optional summer playdate on Thursday, August 18 from 4:00pm–5:00pm on the Sunnyside playground (located in the back of the school).
- The purpose of each event is for students and parents to be able to meet each other before school starts. We only have space on the playground for the incoming 1st grade students.
- Students have to attend the event with an adult (18+) who will stay with their student.
- Adults can bring a chair to sit in while the students play.

Information About Medication Drop Off
The School Nurse will be at Sunnyside August 25 from 12-3pm and available to parents needing to drop off medications, paperwork required for administering (see linked forms where applicable below), and action plans for those who require them for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year.
Prescription Medication:
Prescription medications sent to school require a Prescription Medication Authorization form signed by a parent and the provider who prescribed the medication to be submitted. Prescription medication must be in a current pharmacy container with the following information on the label (Pharmacy will supply a duplicate, labeled container for school use upon parent/guardian request):
- Student Name
- Medication name, strength, amount to be given, dispensing date, directions for use
- Physician/licensed prescriber name
- Pharmacy name, address, phone number
Severe/Life Threatening Allergies:
For students with severe/life threatening allergies or asthma requiring an auto-inject medication (e.g., Epipen), inhaler, a life threatening allergy specific authorization form replaces the Prescription Medication Authorization form. Action Plan must be current.
Over-the-Counter Medication (OTC)
Over-the-counter (OTC) medication (e.g. cough/cold remedies, antihistamines, pain relievers) may be administered with written parent/guardian permission and instructions (OTC Medication Parent Authorization). Over-the-counter (OTC) medication must be supplied by the parent/guardian in the original container with an intact manufacturer label. There is no school supply of any medication.
Online Data Verification for the 2022–23 School Year
Please make sure we have the most up-to-date information for your student in our system for the upcoming school year. Incorrect or outdated information prevents us from being able to contact you with important information and inhibits our ability to reach you in case of illness or emergency.
To update your information please see the directions below:
● If you already have a ParentVUE account, please log in and click the Online Data Verification button in the upper right-hand corner. Complete the updates as requested.
● If you don’t yet have a ParentVUE account, first follow the ParentVUE Set Up Instructions, included, here, to create an account. Next, follow the Online Data Verification Directions, here, to log in and complete your enrollment.
Shorter Email Addresses for Staff
There is now a shorter email option to reach our employees. You can send email messages to our staff members by using the new alias firstname.lastname@MVPschools.org. Students can also be reached using the @MVPschools.org alias. This change accompanies the shorter URL option of MVPschools.org to access the District website.
If you forget to use the shorter alias, that’s okay. Messages sent to the @moundviewschools.org address will still be delivered, and outgoing emails from staff will still carry the longer address. Both addresses will work successfully.
