GET UP & GET GOING!
GET UP & GET GOING!
Get up and get going! Regular exercise can improve the health of everyone. Exercise strengthens muscles and bones, improves heart and lung function, and supports brain development. It also helps increase energy levels and enhances emotional well-being. It is important for kids to engage in activities that promote the three elements of fitness: endurance, strength, and flexibility. Each of these elements can be accomplished through active activities such as playing tag, climbing a rock wall, and stretching.
Kids Health from Nemours is a website that offers guidelines and suggestions for parents on different health topics. The Nutrition and Fitness tab is a helpful resource in sharing ways to get your child active and fit, as well as exercising safely. The site provides educational articles, fitness information broken down by age group, and games that promote fitness for school- age children. (www.kidshealth.org)
