"A Long Way Gone"
Ishmael Beah: Memories of a Boy Soldier
"One side of the sky was completely blue and the other was filled with stagnant clouds. The quiet breeze cause a branch to snap in the forest... The clouds rolled over the blue sky and it became dark. A heavy rain followed, with thunder and lightning that lasted for less than fifteen minutes. Afterwards, the sky returned to its bluest..."
This quote is important to the story because it foreshadows Ishmael's misfortune. Seeing as the sky was blue at first shows how Ishmael was holding to the hope of seeing his family. Then as the blue sky was over come by the dark clouds refers to when he is unable to do anything against the rebels who killed his family, and then again the blue sky surfaced meant that even though he lost the people he cared for the most there was still hope of him in the future.
