Jesus of Nazareth Rejected in his own Town
Early this morning, many people gathered at the synagogue to hear what Joseph's son, Jesus, had to proclaim. Most people that gathered have been lasting friends of Jesus and his family and know him very well. Jesus began by saying to them, "Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing." Many people spoke well of him and were truly amazed at the words that were coming from his mouth. Many of the people gathered there kept asking, "Isn't this joseph’s son?" Jesus answered this by proclaiming very boldly, "I tell you the truth," he continued, "no prophet is accepted in his hometown. I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah's time, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and there was a severe famine throughout the land. Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to a widow in Zarephath in the region of Sidon. And there were many in Israel with leprosy in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed; only Naaman the Syrian." After this proclamation, the people gathered in the synagogue were furious with Jesus. They tried to throw him off a cliff, but Jesus has walked through the crowd of people and on his way.
