Morning Message
Dear Victor Primary,
Happy Wednesday! At school you are asked to be responsible with what you do and say! When you are responsible you do things you are expected to do. Today, think about being a responsible family member. What can you do at home, today and everyday, to show you are a responsible member of your family?
Go forth and be responsible!
Reading
Today you are going to listen to the story, Planting a Rainbow, by Lois Ehlert.
Talk to someone about these things:
Did you think it was a good ending?
Would you change the ending in any way?
Does your family plant seeds in the Spring? What kinds of seeds? Make a list of what you would like to plant this year!
When you’re done try making a rainbow garden of your own! Use construction paper, or white paper or newspaper! Use shapes like circles or triangles to make bubs, petals, stems and leaves. Maybe you can hang them at the bottom of the window like a window box!
Read for 10 minutes today. Can you read one of your Scholastic Magazines this week each day? Have a helper read it with you if you need help. Answer the questions on the back of the Scholastic Magazine.
Word Work / Vocabulary
Description of Work:
This week we will review sight words and play online games. What words do you know as a writer in a snap? Pick 5 new words each day this week and practice them. Pick them from your word wall chart. Choose a new way to practice each day:
Rainbow write with colored markers or crayons
Write them in shaving cream
Use a wet paintbrush on paper or or the driveway
Water color them on paper
Spell them using goldfish, cereal, or fruit snacks
If you have not finished your Handwriting Without Tear’s Handwriting Book, complete a page or two today.
For Word Work, choose 1 choice each day this week from the list below:
IT'S BRAIN BREAK TIME!!
Sing, dance, and practice patterns with this super-funky Blazer Fresh song.
Writing
Description of Work:
Which friend are you going to write to today? You can tell them about the signs of spring you are noticing outside!
From your Friendship List, pick out a friend to write a letter to. You can:
Tell them a math story and hide the answer at the end of the letter
Tell them some jokes - we all need a good laugh today!
Tell them about the best present you ever got. Ask them about theirs.
Tell them about your pet - or what pet you want if you had one.
Write a different friend each day. Mail it or send them a picture of your letter :)
If you don’t have your Friendship List, choose a family member to write a letter to.
Math
Description of Work:
Today, you are going to play Roll and Record with your family. You will need dice (see below for a link for virtual dice) and a recording sheet (See attached for a blank one. Fill in the numbers on the bottom from 3-18).
Roll and Record - 3 dot dice. Think about your Doubles Facts and Doubles Plus 1 when you are using your math thinking.
Then, you can practice other math skills online.
Continue to use the dice recording sheets from Monday.
