Weekly Report
Genius hour with Mrs. Konyar is coming along nicely. The children have the opportunity to explore a topic that truly interests them. It is a pleasure to take some time and just learn freely for awhile.
I loved the biography book reports utilzing keynote. In looking back at the instructions, I remember it saying to read a book from my classroom library, or our school library in order to gather your information. From looking at AR records and asking the kids questions about their book, I am realizing several kids did not follow directions. This "book report" was supposed to be helpful in promoting nonfiction reading for comprehension. I also hoped it would help out in the reading log completion as well as Six Flags reading minutes/Book It. Simply getting information from the internet was not the point of this project. Points were deducted for not using a book.
Reading---Sarah, Plain and Tall (Historical Fiction) Target Skill-Story Structure -- Story Quiz, vocabulary quiz and phonics quiz on Friday
Math-Topic 10 will continue. Fractions can be hard for kids. We are using fraction manipulatives to compare and reinforce concepts.
Spelling--words that have -ed and -ing endings ---- Test on Friday.
Science--We will finish up Chapter 4 in Physical Science next week and have a test the following week.
English-- We will work on some creative writing. Then we will begin Unit 5 Capitalization and Punctuation.
