Newsletter Week 5 Term 3
Meeanee School 24th August, 2022
MESSAGE FROM THE SWIVELLY CHAIR
We have had another busy couple of weeks at school. Karen Lethbridge, an advisor from Evaluation Associates came in to look at our teachers taking their writing groups and then Fiona Wilder from Learning Matters came to view Mrs Donnison and Mrs McKay in action taking Structured Literacy lessons. As mentioned previously we are lucky enough to be funded for a trial of Structured Literacy in Year 4-6. Feedback from Fiona is that the students are doing extremely well and the teaching is excellent.
Tomorrow is Cross Country day. It would be great to see a big turn out of supporters to cheer on your children.
No wonder we have so many new people who want to enrol their children in our school, when we have such an amazing supportive community. In the last week we have our awesome Fletcher who removed all of our green waste from the front of the school, The McLoughlin family who lent us a trailer so we could pick up a new trike. I also had 5 other offers of trailers. The Pie fundraiser looks like it's going to have a great outcome.
Thank you we really appreciate it!

PARK ISLAND
THURSDAY 25th August - 12.15 pm start
We will leave school at 11.45 ready to run at 12.15 and will finish at approximately 2.25pm where parents will be able to take their children home at the finish. If you do take your child home from the venue it is essential that you let his/her teacher know.
All children will travel to Park Island in buses.
We will be running alternate junior/ senior races beginning with the year 7 and 8s.
The children will need a water bottle, towel, change of clothing or footwear if you wish as they are likely to get a little dirty as the course can change due to the weather. House colours can be worn as points for each house will be awarded to place getters.
We expect all children to participate to the best of their ability as running is part of our school curriculum.
We cannot give you an exact time of each event however this is the order that the races will take place at this stage.
