What was the change?
Long ago, people believed that Earth was the center of the universe. Further studies showed that the universe is much more complex than they thought, thus introducing them into a time period called The Scientific Revolution. The Scientific Revolution is a time where many things started to advance including knowledge of the outer space and many more things that we called "science" now-a-days.

Who were the people associated with the change?
Nicolaus Copernicus
Out of all the people that believed that Earth was the center of the solar system and that everything revolved around it, Nicolaus Copernicus was first to hypothesize that maybe it wasn't Earth that was centered but the sun itself was the one centered and that everything else revolved around it.
Johannes Kepler
Kepler had a rough childhood. His intellegence has gotten him introduce to the ideas of Nicolaus Copernicus. He then supported Copernicus's idea that earth wasn't stationary and wrote a book to defend his theory.
Galileo
Galileo was an expert in astronomy so he wanted to prove that Earth wasn't stationary, He then used a telescope to look into outer space, thus proving Copernicus's theory.
How did the change impact society at the time?
After the Dark Ages came the time periods of the Renaissance and The Scientific Revolution which drastically changed the impact of society at the time. After a time without education and literature, things greatly improved to the increase of schools in Europe, leading to more educated people. Pretty soon, people started to discover physics and science. All of this represented a step towards enlightenment and thinking to society back then. It also created a genuine in the way western people thought about the world.
How is that change evidenced in today's modern society?
Now-a-days, we use methods that has been stated by people centuries ago and without that change, we probably wouldn't have space explorations, technology, and many other things that impacts our everyday life today.
