BES Back-To-School Supply Kit Information

Congratulations on making it through the 2020/2021 school year! Start getting prepared for next year now by ordering a back-to-school supply kit for your student. Due to popular demand, the ordering deadline has been extended until Friday, June 18. Late orders submitted after June 18 will be accepted until June 30 but will be subject to a 10% late order fee. So, take 2 minutes, place an order and finish your supply list shopping now! Go to www.unitedschoolsupplies.com and enter our school's 6-digit code, which is 352616. Your student's supplies will be delivered directly to the school this summer. The supplies are of high quality (Crayola, Avery, Expo, Elmer's, Fiskars, Kleenex, Paper Mate, Ziploc. etc.), they are attractively priced, and you can order on your phone or computer from the safety and comfort of your home. My name is Amber Atchley. I've been happily married to my husband Eric for 13 years. We have an 11-year-old son and an 8-year-old daughter who keep us very entertained and young at heart. I'm a newbie to Athens City Schools. I've taught Pre-K for 6 years, helped with Latchkey at AES this past school year, and taught K-4th grade Sunday School. Children are my heart. Pouring into them & watching them learn new things each day brings me so much joy. This past school year was definitely different and challenging but was also wonderful and grew me so much as a wife, mom & teacher. I'm so honored and excited to join the Brookhill family and can't wait to start our fun-filled school days!

My name is Laura Riner. I have been happily married to my husband, Junior Riner, for 28 years now. I have three children. My son lives near me, but my other two live in southeastern Colorado, where he got a job as a preacher. I am so fortunate to have my family extended not only by all of you at Brookhill, but my immediate family is expanding as my daughter is expecting my first grandbaby in September- a little girl. I have a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education, 9 years of experience teaching in the Alabama First Class Pre-K Program (six of which at AES), and a non-exhaustive love of learning. I look forward to learning and inspiring all of you in this new adventure.

Hello everyone! My name is Melissa Sedillo! I just moved here from San Diego, California, with my husband, Patrick, and three children; Madelyn, Patrick III, and Raelyn. I have my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, and I am currently completing my Master's in Educational Leadership. My family and I love to be outdoors, exploring nature, and learning new things. We are excited to explore all Alabama has to offer! I am especially excited to meet my new BES family!

Hi! My name is Julianna Woolard, and I am excited to be a part of the FAME Academy family! I just completed my 3rd year of teaching and have taught 1st, 2nd, and 5th grades. I cannot wait to start the year with my 1st graders! I graduated from Freed-Hardeman University with a Bachelor's in Psychology, and I received my Master of Arts in Teaching from The University of the Cumberlands. I grew up in Decatur and am happy to be back in North Alabama! I am married to Nathan, and we have a toddler son named Asher. I am looking forward to a great school year!

Hello! My name is Nathan Woolard. I grew up in North Carolina, went to college at Freed-Hardeman University in Tennessee, and have lived in both Kentucky and Indiana before coming to Alabama. Before receiving my master’s degree in teaching, I was a Youth and Family Minister for three years and a high school tennis coach. In 2017, I married Julianna, and in December of 2019, we had our first son, Asher. I enjoy tennis (and most all sports), graphic design, and movies. I am excited to begin my teaching career with FAME Academy at Brookhill Elementary!

PTF Back to School Bash

We are excited about our PTF Back to School Bash taking place on Thursday, August 5th. This will be a time for you to meet your teachers and enjoy other events as we celebrate the start of the 2021-2022 school year.


More information will be coming out in July. In addition, postcards will student class placement will be mailed out the week of July 26th.

Kindergarten Information

Kinder Camp

The BES Kinder Camp will be Mon. July 19 through Wed. July 21 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at the FAME Academy at Brookhill Campus. RSVP by emailing jeff.mathheus@acs-k12.org

Kindergarten Phase In Days

All Kindergarten parents will be receiving a letter that will mark the days your child will attend phase-in days during the week of July 26.


Kindergarten Phase-In


Athens City Schools will use a “Phase-In” schedule for kindergarten students during the first four days of school. The schedule below is for students who have chosen the "traditional" option.


Wednesday, August 11 ― All Kindergarten students attend from 7:45 am to 11:00 am

Thursday, August 12 ― 1/3 of kindergarten students attend from 7:45 am to 2:45 pm

Friday, August 13 ― 1/3 of kindergarten students attend from 7:45 am to 2:45 pm

Monday, August 16 ― 1/3 of kindergarten students attend from 7:45 am to 2:45 pm



Tuesday, August 17 - All kindergarten students will begin attending school from 7:45 am to 2:45 pm


Kindergarten students will be mailed their phase-in letters during the week of July 26th.
