"Unlock the Treasure in Every Child" - August 1, 2022
Welcome to the Crew!
Ms. Sartia Shaw - Assistant Principal
Ms. Sarita Shaw is our new Assistant Principal. She is joining the crew as a former Assistant Principal at Enloe Magnet High School and graduate of the Wake Principal Leadership Program at North Carolina State University. Her journey began with a degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Prior to becoming a school administrator, Ms. Shaw joyfully served in Wake County as a Kindergarten, First, and Fourth grade teacher at Brentwood Magnet Elementary and Olds Elementary School.
When she recognized her passion to support teachers and reach students beyond the classroom, she transitioned to serve as a Literacy Coach and Instructional Facilitator. Additional roles of support included the Discovery Education Teacher Leader Corps, School Improvement Team Chair, Beginning Teacher Support Program Coordinator and Mentor, Instructional Leadership Team member, and Professional Development Facilitator for Project READY-Re-imagining Equity and Access for Diverse Youth.
Ms. Shaw keeps herself grounded by spending time with her family, especially her four nephews, and friends. You may find her in the audience of performing arts experience near and far. Ms. Shaw looks forward to learning and growing with each and every one of our Buccaneers!
Ms. Dupreay - Kindergarten
Ms. Hannah Dupreay is excited to be rejoining our Crew. Last school year she had the wonderful opportunity to co-teach at Buckhorn Creek and learn alongside another teacher. This year she will launch her very own classroom!
Ms. Dupreay is originally from Eastern Kentucky, but lived in Cincinnati the past six years. While there she graduated from college with a degree in education, got married, and relocated to North Carolina. She moved south with her husband and two cats. When she is not at school, she spends a lot of her free time reading, going for walks, and traveling!
Ms. Darlene Brislin - 1st Grade
Ms. Darlene Brislin will join our Crew to start her 4th year teaching in Wake County. She raised her family in Northeastern Pennsylvania before moving to Maryland where she taught Kindergarten for 5 years. Ms. Brislin is happy to now call Fuquay Varina home. She is transfering to our school from Parkside ES and is excited to be closer to her home and school community.
Ms. Brislin loves spending time with my 3 adult children, their spouses and her 7 grandchildren. For fun, she enjoy going to the beach, swimming, and reading and listening to audio books.
Mr. Jack Motton - 2nd Grade
Mr. Jack Motton is joining our Crew from across the world. He is from London and just arrived to North Carolina last weekend. Mr. Motton graduated from the University of Greenwich with a degree in Primary Education and started teaching in 2018. For fun, He enjoys watching and playing sports (He is a massive Arsenal FC fan). Mr. Motton also like superheroes and listening to music. Overall, Mr. Motton feels privileged to have the opportunity to work in the United States and join our community. He is looking forward to meeting our students and celebrating a rewarding academic year.
Safety and Carpool
We will not call students by name. Cars without a Buckhorn Creek issued Carpool tag will be required to pull forward, show ID, and we will verify that students can be released to the person picking them up. You will need to add anyone that is allowed to pick up your child to the emergency contacts during Meet the Teacher.
Please make sure you have your carpool tag or have requested additional carpool tags before the first day of school.
Please request a new or replacement carpool tag by following this link.
Anyone that will be a walker must follow a different process that must be completed In-Person. Please do NOT complete this survey. Please come to the school during one of our Forms Days.
Forms Day!!
Forms Days (register for carpool numbers, drop off medication, and drop off any remaining registration documents). Providing specific times to manage these items will allow us to support families more efficiently on Meet the Teacher Night.
August 10, 11 & 12 from 9am-12pm
***Please note, your carpool number from last school year will still be valid. You do not need to get a new number. If you are in need of a replacement tag, please stop in the front office
