Our Week Coming Up At A Glance:
Writing:
- Spelling words for the week. - Spelling Quiz: Thursday, May 10TH.
- The students will continue writing their Dr. Seuss inspired stories, using a limited amount of words. This will be fun but challenging.
Reading:
- We will continue to work on summarizing using GIST and checking our comprehension by using Author’s Portrait.
- We will continue to practice our choral reading. This is a great way to help with fluency. We read a paragraph together out loud as a class at a pace that I set. The more we practice this, the faster we will get and the more fluent we will become.
- Your child should continue reading or be read to nightly for 20 minutes and then getting their reading log initialed.
- We finished Old Yeller! We will be starting a new novel, Number the Stars, as we prepare to lightly touch on the Holocaust.
- We will continue talking about Henry Clay, The Missouri Compromise and the events that led to the Civil War, and also begin covering the Civil War.
How Can Your Student Practice At Home?
From The Seele Office:
We will be sending out a blank RSVP form for you to have on hand for any upcoming events. Please fill and send in a week prior to event to have your visitor pass ready. To help speed up this process during those activities, we will be asking parents/guardians to RSVP to your student’s teacher. This will allow us to pre-enter you into our Raptor System and have your visitor pass ready when you arrive. *Please note if you have not scanned your license, allow extra time prior to event to be scanned through Raptor.
