MD Guidance & Counseling - December 2017
12th Grade Monarchs
Can you believe it? We are almost at the end of the first semester!
Your Fall Semester finals will be held December 18, 19, 20, 21. Be sure to check for the exam schedule to know which dates you will be taking which tests.
Continue working on your college applications. Be sure to order your official transcripts through www.parchment.com to be sent directly to the Common Application for Common App Colleges, or at the college directly if requested (please remember that you do not send transcripts to the UCs or Cal States). Also please remember to send your official SAT/ACT test scores to colleges that require them through the Collegeboard and ACT websites.
The counselors understand that senior year and college applications can be a challenging process. Please reach out to us if you need any support!
Senior Parent Information Night
The Activities Office is holding Senior Parent Info Night on January 18th (6 p.m. in the LeVecke Center). Make sure to attend to mark your calendars and come to learn more about Senior Year Events and graduation.
In conjunction with Senior Parent Night, the Office of Advancement & Alumni will be offering a FREE and INFORMATIVE workshop:
"How to Help Your College Age Child in an Emergency"
This session will provide an overview of what parents need to know to ensure their 18-year old has the basic legal protections they need as newly minted adults. Even better, if your child is 18 on or before January 18, you can even complete and notarize the documents you will need to give you the peace of mind and security that you can continue being the caring parent you have been.
These documents will include:
· Advance health care directive
· Medical records release ("HIPAA waiver")
· General power of attorney
Space for the workshop is limited. For more information and to reserve your spot today, CLICK HERE.

CSF Ceremony
Location: LeVecke Center
All CSF members are required to attend the CSF meeting on Wednesday morning December 6th at 7:30am in the LeVecke Center. Please Note: If a student has been in CSF for four semesters (they do not have to be consecutive), and one of the semesters is for grades earned during the first semester of the senior year, they qualify as a “Sealbearer.” Sealbearers will be given a gold cord at the “CSF” Senior Awards Ceremony in April. This cord will be worn with their graduation gown at the MDHS graduation ceremony, and they will also be recognized in the graduation program. They will also receive a gold seal on their diplomas.
