Important Winter Concert Information

Read Carefully!

Parents,

We have a busy and exciting few weeks ahead of us! Both choirs are sounding wonderful and I can't wait for you to hear our festive concert! Please read all information carefully so you will not miss out on any important events and information.

8:00am concert for Hubenak students in the gym - parents are welcome to come as well. The chairs for parents will be set up in the back. ALL choir students are to wear blue jeans, their choir t-shirt and a plain red and white Santa hat.

  • Fifth grade wears FULL choir uniform and plain red and white Santa hat. (khaki's, choir polo shirt and brown belt and shoes

Fourth graders not in attendance at the evening concert will no longer be allowed to participate in choir in the Spring. Fifth graders not in attendance at the evening concert will not be able to go on Friday's field trip.

Santa Hats

All choir members need to wear a plain red and white Santa hat to all performances. You can find these at grocery stores, craft stores and dollar stores for really cheap this time of year. It would be a good idea to label your child's hat on the inside so they don't get mixed up.

Choir Service Project

We will have a short donation drive to help out needy senior citizens in our community. The fifth grade choir will be singing for the residents of Autumn Leaves of Cinco Ranch next Friday. The assisted living home is currently conducting a donation drive for items that are in high demand for senior citizens. Here are some suggestions:

  • Lotions
  • Socks
  • Depends
  • Health Items (brushes, tooth brushes, toothpaste, shampoo etc.)
  • slippers
  • hand soap
  • pill containers
  • Homemade Christmas cards!!!

All choir members (4th and 5th) are encouraged to donate items by Friday morning, Dec. 12th. Thanks for your help and generosity!

Spirit Night

We will have a choir spirit night on Wednesday, December 18th at All Stars Family Grill on FM 1093. The restaurant has generously offered to donate 20% of profits to the choir. You just have to mention that you are with Hubenak. To help entertain the crowd, both choirs will be sing a few holiday songs from our concert while folks have dinner. The kids will need to wear their choir t-shirt, jeans and their Santa hat.

  • 6:00pm - 4th grade choir sings
  • 7:00pm - 5th grade choir sings

You are encouraged to grab some dinner before or after you child's performance. Spirit night lasts from 5:00-9:00pm.

Fundraisers like this are a fun and easy way to get involved in our community and raise money for the choir program. Without events like this, we would not be able to buy all of our choir music and go on field trips. Please come out and participate!

Additional Announcements

  • Fourth grade students brought home a word sheet to study today. If the sheet did not make it home, you can find it on the choir website or by clicking here. Don't forget, Fourth grade has one more morning choir rehearsal on Monday at 7:00am. Thank you for making the extra effort to be at these rehearsals!
  • Fifth grade students went home with their field trip permission slips and choir folders on Thursday. Students should be practicing at home over the weekend. Permission slips are due Tuesday. (Lost permission slips can be downloaded from the website or through Charms)
  • Practice at home - I will add some links to video or audio files that students may listen to to practice at home. Keep checking the documents page of the website for added links as I find them over the weekend. They are near the bottom under the Practice at Home tab.

Volunteers Needed

The choir needs assistance decorating the stage curtains for the winter concert. If you are able to help during the school day on Wednesday morning, please sign up through the Volunteer section of Charms. It involves hanging lights, letters and snowflakes on the curtains. It does involve going up and down a ladder. Thanks for your help!
