NRWHS October 2019 Newsletter
Mission: To prepare each child for a successful future
Please Join Us For Open House!
Believe it or not, this Friday (October 4) marks the end of the first 5-week period in the school year. That means progress reports will be generated early next week. A student’s 5-week progress report lists his/her current grade point average in each course as well as comments from teachers. These reports provide parents, students, and teachers with an opportunity to review academic progress and goals at this critical point in the school year; students who begin the year by developing effective academic habits are more likely to experience sustained success over the course of the year.
This year, we will be distributing 5-week progress reports at Open House which will take place on Wednesday, October 9 at 6 pm. We certainly hope you can join us for this important event! In addition to receiving your child’s progress report, you will be able to meet his/her teachers and even sample some food items that our food service department will be offering. We’re looking forward to opening our doors and welcoming in our school community!
Thank you to everyone who made our Homecoming week such a success! Between the lunch on the lawn, pep rally, athletic contests, tailgate party, bonfire, and dance… we had a wonderful week of celebration of our Cougar Pride, and we’re looking forward to continuing the celebration throughout the year!
Thank you for your continued support! As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns.

Rochester Area College Fair Returns to NRWHS
Juniors and seniors at North Rose-Wolcott High School recently learned more about local colleges at the Rochester Area College Fair, held in the high school gymnasium.
Representatives from local colleges were on hand to answer questions students had about programs. Each representative provided handouts with basic information about the campus and students could also sign up to be put on the college’s mailing list, if they were interested.
Colleges attending the fair were: Alfred State College, Monroe Community College, Keuka College, Houghton College, Genesee Community College, SUNY Geneseo, SUNY Brockport, University of Rochester, Rochester Institute of Technology, St. John Fisher College, Finger Lakes Community College, Roberts Weselyan College, Alfred University, and Nazareth College.
NRW High School Principal Brian Read said, “Our counselors consistently do a great job of supporting our students to develop long-term plans for personal and professional success, and this annual event is just one component of that effort which is critical to our mission of preparing each student for a successful future.”
