Yearbooks - Don’t miss this opportunity!!
The yearbook is a beloved tradition in our school; we capture the moments that made the year special. Students love flipping through the pages, reminiscing over what happened, and recalling forgotten moments through photos and stories. Order by February 28 at the Jostens Website for $35. You can search for AMS on the Jostens website, or use this link here:
Renaissance is Coming March 10th
The Renaissance List is going to be posted on the library window, please be sure to check it out and come to the office if you have questions.
Please do not wait to check in if you have questions.
Hat Policy
The hat policy includes:
Hats will no longer be permitted inside any classrooms or buildings on campus
Hats must follow the permitted logo guidelines
Below you will find the degrees of infractions that students may encounter.
We ask that you help us by ensuring students are not wearing any logos on their hats or clothing in alignment with our School Resource recommendations to ensure the safety of all. Students can wear hats that have Atlanta, Athletics, Dodgers, or Washington spelled out. If your student is asked to remove their hat/ mask/ or item of clothing that is associated with these teams, and they have already been warned regarding this attire, you will be contacted to pick up the item from the administrators. Our goal is to continue to provide a safe and neighborhood-neutral school that welcomes students and families from everywhere. Over the last few months, we have experienced an increase in issues related to hat logos on campus and student safety. Anacapa Middle School Staff and Administration has decided to update the hat policy to align with other VUSD middle schools, high schools and to support the recommendations of VPD and the VC Gang Task Force Unit
- Hats, clothing and lanyards with letters A, B, C, D, M, O, P, S or W are not allowed on campus. (with exception of the Anacapa School shirt)
- Hats must follow the permitted logo guidelines (see image below).

Student Handbook
ACADEMIC EXPECTATIONS AND POLICIES (Page 9 of the AMS Student Handbook)
Every student is entitled to an instructional program that is challenging, relevant and interesting. The opportunity to receive a quality education is dependent upon student responsibility. It is expected that each student will:
Bring appropriate tools and supplies daily. (as specified or supplied by teachers)
Bring your Chromebook to school each day. Chromebook must be charged every night.
Bring and use your AMS School Agenda every day.
Complete assigned homework and engage in a nightly home study before class (this includes assigned homework, studying for tests, reviewing notes, etc.).
Make a positive contribution to class instructional activities by demonstrating a willingness to participate and by completing necessary assignments/projects.
It is recommended that students have a 2” or 1.5” binder. Students should bring the binder to school every day, including the first day of school. Students will be given an agenda (student planner) and are expected to have it with them each day. This allows students to develop organizational skills that will stay with them as they continue in their education.
PROGRESS REPORTS
Progress reports will be sent home with students approximately halfway into each quarter. Students are responsible for giving their reports to you. This is valuable information, allowing time for your intervention if needed before the quarter grades are posted.
REPORT CARDS
Report cards are prepared at the end of each quarter in order to communicate student progress, both academically and behaviorally. Report cards will be mailed to the home address of record. The following dates mark the end of each quarter: October 22, 2021; January 28, 2022; April 1, 2022; June 16, 2022.
